Re: RC10 buggy gearing recommendations
I'm outfitting several RC10 buggy builds with electronics. I'm going to be running a 6 cell 5000 NIMH pack with a reedy radon 17T. Any gearing recommendations you could offer for a good starting point? Figure this is for general use not track specific. Anyone know what stock gearing was for a RC10 ...

Re: Low Tech Solution for loose axle pins
I'll definitely remember that so I'm not out of action for a week or more waiting on parts.lpddpd wrote:I find a nail that fits the hole then take wire cutters to it, snip it down to the right size and then cut some more for spares. Easy cheap and fast fix if you do lose the pin.

Re: Trouble with LiPo connection to charger
If you already have a charger, then you will need to buy the balance plug that suits that charger... (or buy a balance adaptor to suit your charger and balance connector you use..) I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the Imax chargers use JST balance connectors.. (JST is the connector brand, XH3 is...

Re: Trouble with LiPo connection to charger
What you need to buy or make is a charging adaptor such as the one pictured below, but using plugs that will suit the charger that you have, and 3.5mm bullet connectors (instead of 4mm) to suit your battery.. This one has a Deans main battery connector, and a JST XH3 balance plug Mark, thanks for t...

Trouble with LiPo connection to charger
I bought my first LiPo batteries, 1/18th scale Duratrax 1800 maH batteries. They each came with three connectors, a pair of 3.5 mm maie connectors and a 2 mm male connector. I understand the 3.5s, they are for positive an negative leads from the ESC to connect to the battery. I don't get the 2mm. Th...

Re: Low Tech Solution for loose axle pins
Did they forget everything when TT took over? Seems like they are going quite backwards. We're there any "no serviceable parts inside" stickers on that car?! Who is TT? Since I'm an old noob (52, but just starting with RC cars for the first time) I don't know. And no, there were no...

Low Tech Solution for loose axle pins
While assembling the RC18T2/B2 kit, I ran into a ton of frustration trying to mount the wheels because the axle pins were so loose they would slip out of position every time I tried to mount the wheels. Either the pin would slide to one side and block the wheel from seating properly or it would fall...

Re: Alternative to Brand Name Lube?
The rear diff needs more shims, I think that I had 2 or 3 more shims on mine to get the diff of the sper If the drive line is tight you over tightened the belt cover. Thighen till the screw bottoms out them back off 1/16 to 1/18 turn. I know this does not sound right but that is what AE told me and...

Re: Alternative to Brand Name Lube?
Use the black grease for the small thrust bearing and for the main part, ball diff grease is just a sliicone grease, available from plumbers merchants. I would have appreciated AE including an extra 2mm e-clip or two in the bag. Started the build in the order of the instructions with the shocks and...

Re: Alternative to Brand Name Lube?
I would have appreciated AE including an extra 2mm e-clip or two in the bag. Started the build in the order of the instructions with the shocks and promptly launched one of the e-clips across the room, never to be seen again. So the next week while I waited for my bag of e-clips to arrive I built as...

Re: Alternative to Brand Name Lube?
Dude shoot me your address and I will send you a tube of stealth lube, it's not worth getting a divorce over! I can't believe they don't come with it. I appreciate it. I will PM address. Wasn't trying to mooch, though. The kit came with gear diffs which use included black grease, however, the rear ...

Alternative to Brand Name Lube?
Is there an commonly available (non-mail-order, non-hobby-shop) alternative to differential lube by the car manufacturer? I ask this because I bought my first kit to build (RC18T2/RC18B2) and have ended up ordering additional parts followed by additional parts, followed by more additional parts, etc...

Re: Best Board for Non-Vintage R/C
I find the people here are pretty knowledgeable about modern RC. Plus, I'd rather not have to search through a topic with 300 pages to find the nugget of info I need, which is the case at RCTech. There's a few very knowledgeable people there and a lot of kids, and unfortunately the site can be best...
