Re: XX / XXT Transmission Braces
Thanks for the reply. It seems the ears will need to be in full contact with the bulkhead to be a benefit so I think I will use one and just make sure of the contact and add some material if need be.

Re: ** What's Old is New Tech Thread **
Forgive me for posting on an old thread but I've wanted to build one of these and have many of the parts laying around such as the Dynotech Klein arms. Could anyone help me out with what turnbuckle lengths I would need to run the Klein arms and truck shock towers?

XX / XXT Transmission Braces
Does anyone know if the XX transmission braces with the "ears" or "fingers" on them give any extra strength or rigidity to the chassis or transmission compared to the simple little rectangular braces? This will be for a runner build with a modern motor. If the eared braces help a...

Re: XXT as a runner?
Yup, that's what I'm talking about. I believe the un painted body I found is the same as that one so it should work with that grill.

Re: XXT as a runner?
So was that paint scheme from an old ad or magazine article or something? It just really seems to mirror the image I have in my memory. I've picked up another donor truck with a shell I might try to strip and repaint for a runner body and I also just came across an original unpainted CR shell (not c...

Re: Closet find build
Thanks! Yea that's a truck tower, I originally did it to be able to do the slammed body look. I'm not sure I'll keep it this way or not because it does look a little funky as tall as it is. I am thinking about mounting the shocks lower and trimming the ears of the tower down or I might try to copy t...

Re: Closet find build
It's Alive!!! Puttered around the kitchen floor for a minute, I feel like a kid again! I'm just happy I didn't burn up the esc or motor soldering the dang leads on, I suck at soldering! I think the diff was slipping quite a bit so I cranked it down a bit more. Not sure how to tell for sure if the di...

Those front arms are awesome! Are you planning on trying to widen the rear any now? Spacers or anything?

Re: XXT as a runner?
Sweet! Perfect paint scheme on that one, reminds me of the magazine ads for it back in the day, pretty much what I'd like to go for! Since last time I have found a set of shocks, a bunch of wheels, and picked up a couple of extra trannys. One with the milled motorplate and the other looks like it mi...

Re: Closet find build
I cut myself a tranny brace out of G10. Thank you to the members of this forum for ideas like this one. It's not perfect but it turned out ok for Dremel and sandpaper.

Re: Closet find build
Of course I can't resist to mock it up with the wheels and see what it will look like. I'm about to build the shocks, anybody suggest a different starting point other than green springs, 30w, & #1 all around?

Re: Closet find build
Turnbucks installed. I like the smaller profile of the AE ball cups so I used those, I just have to tell myself the greenish tint is to go with the greenish g10!

Re: Closet find build
I intended to use J Concepts stainless ball studs everywhere but clearance is minimal here as you all know so I was able to find these short - necked studs at the local shop. I didn't feel like trial and error ordering more, does anybody know what stainless studs are .2" shank with the short ba...

Re: How many turns?
Thanks for the replies, I did wind up ordering a 10.5. It sounds like it'll have all the potential I could want, I figure I can gear it 'slow', see how it runs and go from there.
