To anyone who has an Optima Mid Custom box

Hi all, new member here. My name is Steve and i was heavily into RC in the late 80's to early 90's. Owned a few different models from Tamiya and Kyosho, but my favorites were always the Optima Mids. I just finished an Optima Mid Custom Special restoration and am now working on an Optima Mid Custom. ...

Re: To anyone who has an Optima Mid Custom box

i would like to, but am struggling with the photos, the files are too big to upload. What hosting site do most people use ? A long time ago, i used photobucket, but that site went to crap and then a lot of forum pics were lost.
Does this work ?

Re: Turbo Ultima rebuild

That stripped body looks really good IMO. If you decide to go with the same (or close) color, it will come out excellent - of course the downside is if you didn't like the blue. If you decide on a different color, it won't look that great. I've gotten used to re-painting them the same color.

Re: My Optima Mid(s) ID issue

You have so much interesting stuff, it's incredible. I especially like your vintage motor collection. And also very lucky to have your actual cars from back in the day.

Re: How reliable are vintage ESC

I run several vintage ESC and motor combinations and have no issues. I don't run lipo. NiMh and some older 3000 mAh NiCds - everything works just fine. I have a couple Optima Mid's and my favorite has a LeMans 240SB (that's an old 30,000 RRM mill) with a vintage Tekin 411G. No issues and everything ...

Re: Motors from the crypt

MCI has twister decals too! i tried them ... they are 'good'. You can definitely tell they're reproduction - real twister decals are foil - so the repops look different. I bought twister, trinity, and leMans from MCI - The MCI trinity decals are a very nice match, the LeMans decals are also 'good' -...

Re: Optima Mid eye candy

I've ordered from him twice in the past few months. Each time it took about 4 weeks for the package to arrive. Here's some close ups of the bodies, Turbo SE - real deal Kyosho. Regular Mid - Marwan. Pretty difficult to tell them apart. I read about the TBG body being a bit small/short. My marwan bod...

Re: Optima mid freebie project

Welcome to the site! The mid looks nice. With a little work, she'll be back to running in no time.

There is a member here who has a lot of AYK pro radiant parts, so don't give up on her either.

Re: Turbo Optima Mid SE ?

The Turbo Optima Mid SE did come with a LeMans 240ST. Tinted belt and spur gear covers were stock on both the regular Mid, Turbo Mid and Turbo Mid SE. Clear covers came on the LWB models. As stated above, the platinum shocks and bronze anodized chassis w/ countersunk holes and silver wheels pretty m...
