Re: Best value in RC now

Great question. Redcats TR10 RTR stadium truck is $108 shipped. Tamiyas Grasshopper and derivatives are $103 and up shipped. DT-02's are a good value. The new FMS 1/10 RTR Monster truck at $168 shipped is a good deal too. Then there's the WL Toys Match 4wd RTR buggy, which at $140 shipped, is a ton ...

Excellent story. Hope you got a decent price for the Egress, considering it had vintage race pedigree and all. 👍

F Main, pretty ironic

That's cool you got a trophy and memories of the event, bit of a shame you sold the car though.

Re: Predictions for the RC hobby in 2035

I predict that I will have passed on, and about 15 Schumacher buggies will show up at the local Goodwill. One thing that might happen: some Power Wheels type ride ons for kids are RC now. My grand-niece has a Jeep that she can drive, but Dad has a controller that over-rides her inputs to keep her f...

Re: Predictions for the RC hobby in 2035

Vintage pan cars come roaring back to life in popularity.....rere's, vintage races, etc.....and my kids make a mint selling off my stuff, to cover my funeral, the open bar tab at the wake and a 70's rock cover band.

Re: What RC Tech has advanced the slowest (and remains relatively pricey)?

2.4ghz radios can be had so cheap it's not even funny, unless you want a name brand. The gool radios are perfect for budget cars and have all the features you want for a novice for far less than a name brand receiver only. I have a dozen of these and the even cheaper tx4 systems that I use for my ch...

Re: What RC Tech has advanced the slowest (and remains relatively pricey)?

My $20 RadioLink Receivers come with "Gyros" which help with keeping a vehicle going straight. Spektrum "AVC" receivers cost about 5 times as much. You may be suffering from cultural lag which is preventing you from seeing that 2.4gz tech has come down greatly in price over the p...

Re: What RC Tech has advanced the slowest (and remains relatively pricey)?

Associated RC10 re-releases... twice the price they were in the 90's for 35-year-old tech from Taiwan... Buy a Traxxas and get the same thing for half the price. :P In all seriousness I don't think the slowing of RC Tech is a matter of cultural lag as much as the hobby maturing to the point advances...

Re: What RC Tech has advanced the slowest (and remains relatively pricey)?

Not much has to do with Tech but Stick Radio has been really pricey. I see 3 options at the moment. 1) Futaba 4GRS, US$389 - amainhobbies.com - just got one 2) Futaba 7XC - US699.90 - rcmart.com 3) Sanwa Exzes Z3 - US$699.90 - rcmart.com The 4GRS is based on Futaba 4pm. Futaba 4pm is only US$299. 7X...

Re: Let’s Build the RC10Talk Community’s Own 1/10 Buggy Kit!

There are a ton of reasons why this is a bad idea.

So when can we start?

Initial ideas.
A 1/10 scale car that would be a dirtoval/ street racer design. Flat plate chassis with limited suspension travel.
Metric hardware.

Re: Let’s Build the RC10Talk Community’s Own 1/10 Buggy Kit!

JC racing already beat you to it: https://www.jcracingproducts.co.uk/racing-options/jc10-carbon-fibre :P I think GoMachV has enough files on hand to print/cut everything but the metal parts, ballcups, and tires for an entire car, yeah? Sabula (Mytimac) for the body, obviously. Wow... that process to...
