Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

It was a great day for mail! :D I've been looking forward to this showing up! A huge Thank You to GoMachV for the opportunity to get my hands on one of these awesome kits! I will be using a new Team Car for this build. Any advice on wheels/tires and other recommended parts would be greatly appreciat...

Re: Racing On The "Other" Side Of The Pond

Firstly practice, that depends on the track and yes, a lot of tracks are temporary. If you wanted to practice at the club I raced at last weekend outside of race days you would find a drivers stand in an empty field as all the track markers are put away at the end of the day. We went straight into r...

Re: Racing On The "Other" Side Of The Pond

I like how the "other side" seems to be a little more casual with their track surfaces....short grass, maybe some turf, and a dash of dirt. Seems like they are more determined to have some sort of a track that meets the minimums for "offroad". Instead of balls out all turf indoor...

Re: Racing On The "Other" Side Of The Pond

I like how their astro tracks are also not on flat land so it at least give you that offroad feel, meanwhile people here get all whiny if there's a small wrinkle in the surface. I'm still of the opinion that modern tracks in the US have too much grip and are too smooth and depend on big air jumps f...

Re: Racing On The "Other" Side Of The Pond

With national races everyone competing is close enough to being on par that divisions within a class aren't necessary. With club level racing, watching some of the local level UK stuff, off-road seems to be taken much more lightly while on-road appears every bit as serious as racing in the US is. T...

Re: Brian Kinwald's 1993 World's winning setup

Let me start by saying it doesn't look shiny like the Kimbrough, but there were not a lot of good options for plain horns on those days. My money would be on a Kimbrough that was shaped. Other than that, it was mostly aircraft arms and I can't think of any that had that shape.

Re: Brian Kinwald's 1993 World's winning setup

Was his servo not mounted with posts? Doesn't appear so. That's one thing I don't have to buy lol. Yeah he had it glued down and the ears trimmed a bit. Its also more forward than it would be if it used posts, nearly touching the nose plate. Screenshot 2025-06-19 151043.jpg I want to know what that...

Sly Products Novak reproduction Cases for ORCA V2

These just turned up from France. Stumbled across SLY Products. They mostly make some reproduction period correct radio equipment for shelf queens and static display RC. But they made an interesting case set for Orca 800 series V2 brushed ESC. Got a couple delivered today and they fit beautifully. I...

Re: The Kinwald Edition RC10 (it is here!)

Pretty sure this was the heatsink BK used on the Novak 410-HPc. I remember seeing them back in the early 90's, but haven't seen one since. Looks like he just shaved the top of the hexagon off. Screenshot_20250614-211356~2.png I thought the ones he used were more like an oval i could be wrong though...

Re: AJ's tires on Jellybean wheels

I decided to remove the inner lip from the tires and install the spacer rings.

It stretched the tire out to the bead and flattened the tread.

FTW Ten4.1 Monster Truck

When I picked up a factoryworks.com Ten4.1 kit last year, I installed it on a FanRC FR01. I have no complaints about that car, but as soon as I was done with it, it hit me that I should have built a RC10 4WD MT Conversion. I almost took apart the FR01 to scavenge the parts, but I let it be. And it w...

Re: Racing On The "Other" Side Of The Pond

Ah, gotcha, my experience with British RC club racing is exclusively from youtube videos of Tomley and Popalong  . The latter depicts indoor racing as halfway serious and outdoor racing as a carnival on grass... bodies with stuffed animals poking through them, widely mismatched vehicle types, ...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?

I dug out my Sassy Chassis RC10 and swapped some stuff around. I swapped out the wide front arms from some short ones and used wide CRP axles. For some reason, it just felt right. (the Tamiya shocks are also a better fit with short arms) I also swapped the rear arms and carriers for some that matche...

Re: Ryan Cavalieri's 2009 RC10B4 for sale

Ryan-Cavalieri-2009-ROAR-Bu.jpg eBay listing image added for posterity. $2,900 USD represents a savings of 36% off the $4,500 AUD sticker price... look at the deal you get just for being American.  I could foresee some messages exchanged to verify the documentation & car from Rya...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?

Finally found wood for the shelves for my workspace. In about six months I'll get around to the next step and, in about 5 years, I might finish and the room will be usable, again.
