I think you meant factory works, not custom works. As well aren't all the new chassis drilled for both transmissions?

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10

You're welcome. £330 is a good start indeed. Yep, FanRC trans swaps in with the chassis being dual drilled like JosephS mentioned, and some folks think Fan's parts are higher quality than Associated's new parts. And L&L Models, Modelsport and others in the UK carry JConcepts aluminum bellcrank ...

Re: Losi hits it out of the park again!!!!!!

Pretty sure the original post is being sarcastic. I had one of the original Micro Ts they made. I couldn't do anything with it because my dog would go ape-$hit if I so much as looked at that truck.

Edit: Is this one even smaller than the original? It looks like it may be.

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10

That FanRC trans is a neat bit of kit. If you're into gear diff transmissions another option (rabbit holes, lol) GoMachV (Factory Works) sells a retro trans setup through JC Racing... looks like a six gear from the outside, but uses a three gear RC10 B6 gear diff inside: https://www.jcracingproduct...

Re: Tamiya Rough Rider & Sand Scorcher

Thank you for the great write up and article! My first RC car was a Super Champ back in 82-83 and my first car was a Baja Bug that I started building in 84 and became my daily when I started driving in 86. These VW based cars will always have a special meaning to me😎

Thanks again!

Re: Tamiya Toyota Hilux

I remember the videos in my LHS showing these magnificent machines and I restored one a while ago. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding projects I have ever undertaken. While RC10s were massively outclassing the Tamiya SRBs, this was an area that Tamiya excelled at. True scale and staggering engi...

Re: Tamiya Super Champ

Great write-up! I was 13 when I saved up enough money to buy this kit. It's actually kind of wild to think back on how this single purchase developed skills that would guide me down paths in both my personal and professional life for the last 42+ years. I have 2 ebay finds in my collection. One will...

Chassis is done. https://i.imgur.com/F0farbv.jpg Was going to use the front bumper, but thinking about something else now. https://i.imgur.com/QNcAvoe.jpg Testing the Centerline wheel covers. The vintage tires will be the last detail - looking forward to adding the tire writing, the Sand Blaster let...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

Funny you should say that, I was thinking about taking that exact front bumper from the Sand Scorcher, for the Rough Rider: https://i.imgur.com/PZsbWde.jpg and getting the more box art shaped front bumper for the SS. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/EyUAAOSwwbdWMUNr/s-l1600.jpg https://tamiyabase.com/...

Re: Kyosho mint green paint

That's excellent advice.
You can prime lexan with Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear which will allow enamel to bond to lexan.

Re: Kyosho mint green paint

The closest I have found off the shelf is Montana Gold in color code 6130 - Malachite. It is an acrylic graffiti paint available from art supply stores, although you can also get it from Amazon. The green wing shown is from the Javelin mint cage set. The paint itself is flat, which doesn't matter in...

Re: My Attempt at doing something less basic

A little less complex this time. Most of this was done with an external mix airbrush as other brush was being horribly inconsistent and I didn't really need to do anything fine. I've gotten a little better at cutting designs but still need to work on my technique in tight areas as the blade kept sli...
