Re: Tamiya Sand Scorcher - 2010 Reissue

You don't apply the decals before the clear coat? From what I was reading, the Tamiya decals are high quality, and already shiny. Clear over low quality decals makes them look better. If the decals don't look good in contrast, I can always clear over the body and decals, after the fact. The P-34 6-...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

While the ground clearance is less with the foam wheels, the foam wheels fit better in the stock wells, of an HPI 256mm wb. The body is propped up and hovering over the chassis, if the front wheels didn't clear the wells, the body would be thrown off at this point. EOGU5uww10E The rear wheel wells m...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Mounted the front body posts in the holes in the front bumper, as specified in the manual. Want to be able to run the stock body too. Drilled the front posts in the Bandit body, the foam wheels clear without any well trimming so far. A-EHAIiem8A https://i.imgur.com/yRkbb9F.jpg Going to try magnets i...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Special delivery from Japan, couldn't believe how fast this got here, the day after Labor Day even. https://i.imgur.com/hwAhSwt.jpg Came with a sweet note that looks to be handwritten, and a miniature origami. https://i.imgur.com/RFzUlPN.jpg I have bought vintage Boss guitar pedals from Japan in the...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

The 911 body set doesn't have holes. https://images.amainhobbies.com/images/large/tam/tam51543.jpg Very cool, thanks for that! That gives me some ideas. Have to do the silver boxart on this kit body, but would like another body to make custom. Got the wheels on before anything else was done. Chassi...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Tried the 31mm wide wheels in the rear, they rub. Put the correct 26mm wide rear wheels on, and it's a perfect fit. https://i.imgur.com/FRfjbi6.jpg Can slam it on the ground and it still clears the chassis and wells. https://i.imgur.com/toM5SAK.jpg Think I'm going to get rid of the window decals, th...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

I masked the wrong side of the front rims yesterday, and sprayed them :x Had to remove all of the TS-29 off the backside hoop of the front wheels, and then mask and spray them correctly. The directions are a bit vague. https://i.imgur.com/Csk6iHc.jpg Going to cut out the 911 body and hopefully paint...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Got the HW 120A and Rocket 4.5T motor today. https://i.imgur.com/ZqlGHV6.jpg The HW 120 was too wide to fit in the chassis with the pack holder. Made a Kydex plate to relocate the ESC to the top of the Stealth, and give it a more even mounting surface. https://i.imgur.com/fxKj3aM.jpg DS tape in betw...

Re: RC10 DS Classic - Build

Not sure where they get that number, the original Deans are rated something like 30a (edit- rated 60a) and are much higher quality. If you watch some recent videos on YouTube, there is a ton of junk on amazon right now like 5a fuses that don't blow at 15a and terminals that are such poor material t...

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Glad to see the PS-12 Silver and PS-1 White backing toned down the PS-20 Flo Red, gives it that orange color on the boxart. https://i.imgur.com/aFEuMj1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Jutx7eY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CjDRWVf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Pcygr52.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nTY6oVw.jpg https://i.imgur....

Love ya' Tamiya, but the window masks and decals not being pre-cut is a lot of work.

Re: New to RC and need some help identifying my thrift

Just to be 100% clear, I never meant that a C-stamp RC10, had anything to do with the abbreviation CE, only the fact that an RC10, with the C-stamp, is always a Championship Edition. Where did I get that from? The excellent thread we all know - only added the direct link to the CE in that list: http...

Haven't forgotten this project. Still trying to acquire the necessary paint skills to do the Viper body justice, in the Team Car scheme.

Re: 1/10 Scale On-Road - Chassis Options in 2024

Yeah, cutting decals can be very time consuming but I always prefer to do it myself anyway. When they are die-cut, they never seem to trim close enough to the edge of the color which leaves this clear border that creates a visible edge that doesn't look so nice. The decals surrounding the headlight...
