Re: Fan RC FR-01

Would be good to see if someone with a "gritty" diff tried new diff/thrust balls Swapped over to traditional thrust plates / balls, and it made no difference. Going to swap back in the new style, and just start swapping parts individually until some improvement is witnessed. All parts app...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Those slightly protrude from the bottom. Unless you put a backing nut on, that's all the thread engagement available. When they are in stock, I like the JConcepts ones. They are aluminum versions of the Worlds bellcranks. The Fan RC belcranks have material added to the ballstud areas meaning they h...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Rogue nice side by side stealth comparison. Regarding the outdrives... I'm in the midst of building my trans for the fan kit. I did feel that the rings could use a sanding. I only sanded one side assuming that I don't want the ring to slip on the outdrive right? The outdrive to me felt rough. Like ...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Rear shocks, not front. The rear shocks included are the 1.32 with 1.32 shafts. Same as all the rc10 buggies used except the world's car. Here is the page from the rc10 manuals. See the amount of spacer used? Screenshot_20240812_232722_Firefox.jpg This page is from the world's car which had the same...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

The experts will correct me if I am wrong here, but you should be able to build them as all the non worlds rear shocks were built. Stick a ~5/8" piece of tube on the shaft under the piston and call it done. EDIT: I built mine without any spacers in them to see if it was possible, but no,...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

If they are 1.32 bodies and 1.32 shaft, put 3/8" worth of spacers in them, and mount them in the 3rd hole from the outside on the tower and outer hole on the arm. Put them together and test fit them before filling with oil. Make sure the drivetrain is free, you have a good amount of droop witho...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Anyone else unable to get the thrust bolt with greased washers and diff balls into the hub? I tried for a couple hours last night and could not even come close. Without the balls the washers will fit in but it's almost like the balls are too big or the diameter of the bolt is too big for it all to ...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Going back to the rings and hubs... I did very lightly use 800 grit sandpaper on both sides of the rings. There was some grit in the connection when the parts were put together. I also put the hubs in the drill and spun them on a scouring pad briefly which helped removed some of the roughness in th...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

I spoke with Cheng yesterday and apparently in his kits he does include the 1.02 rear shafts so don't use the CE or Team manuals, use the original Worlds. I would highly recommend not using the rere manual for the majority of the kit since the rere manuals are beyond terrible. Find the original worl...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Well I seem to be the only one left, lol so I'll just share my findings and hope that it helps someone build their own kit. I just completed the assembly of the shocks. Now I had an idea going into this from just looking over the parts that these shocks are not the ones in the world's car kit. The ...

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Does you motor have a recommended final drive ratio (FDR)
If so you can work out if that pinion is in the right range.

Spur gear / pinion x gearbox ratio= FDR

Re: Fan RC FR-01

Sounds like you got the mesh correct, just make sure you can rock the spur gear for a full 360° rotation. Sometimes they are slightly out of round and still make noise if there is a tight spot somewhere. Check for any excess flashing and if you are still unhappy with the stock spur, best thing is to...

Re: RC10 40th Anniversary boxart - Striped Decals vs Painted Stripes

Hey guys. Just joining the conversation here as I'm about to paint the body for my fr-01. I'm wondering what the consensus is regarding cutting out the windshield or any of the windows to promote airflow? I'm old school just getting back into the hobby and back in the day I had my esc mounted on th...
