Re: Egress front shock mounting

Great info. I always found my Super Shot to be pretty rugged but never got quite the same feel from my Vanquish back in the day. Out of curiousity, did the Thundershot series ever see track duty? They seem like a slightly more modern/streamlined version of the Hot Shot design but nobody ever speaks...

Tamiya Top Force build in 2022

I enjoyed this build and have some general tips for your Top Force reissue build. The Top Force was the 100th vehicle in their lineup and was the next generation 4WD racer after the Tamiya Egress. This is a shelf queen and I opted for different wheels to go along with a vivid original paint scheme. ...

Re: Tamiya Top Force build in 2022

Very nice Top Force. I also heat my screws up with a lighter to prevent cracking the plastic. The front gearbox seems to often have cracking issues where the bottom cover screws on in hard use/competition. I feel part of this is due to the front cover also serving as the lower suspension arm mount ...

Ultimate Tamiya Egress Thread

I wanted to start a thread for Tamiya Egress enthusiasts. This is easily my favorite buggy of all time from Tamiya. Whoever designed this mean-looking buggy hit a homerun. It looks so fast and awesome right out of the box. This is my all-out 2022 rendition of the Tamiya Egress. The original 1989 is ...

Re: What factors led to the Ultima's win at the '87 Worlds?

I raced at Romsey 6 months after the worlds, the two main issues were grip, there is none unless you had the kyosho blocks W-5031. Not an issue at the worlds all the top drivers had them. The second issue was the bumps, the track was very rough. To the contrary of what Joel Johnson has said in an in...

Very cool thread! Was mostly into dirt oval and on-road oval/can-am...but did find this regarding 1987: Per Gene Husting: http://www.dirt-burners.com/rcdox/Race%20Reports%20etc/1987%20IFMAR%20World%20Championships%2C%20Romsey%2C%20England%20%28RCMC%2C%20nov%2087%2C%20US%29.pdf RCMC: https://www.over...

Kyosho Double Dare Refresh

IMO, the best looking monster truck of the '80s was the Kyosho Double Dare! Not the best at really anything else, but looks wise, the DD does it for me!! :D So, through horse trading, I have ended up with two semi-crappy Double Dares, so might as well make one out of the best parts. This will be a r...

Re: Kyosho Double Dare Refresh

A quick ten second bath in RIT Scarlet Red knocked the pink off the shock plastics. Bottom body for reference.

Re: Kyosho Double Dare Refresh

With sub-assemblies mostly built, progress moves fairly quickly. Waiting on the MSC to show up, and then that and motors will be next in.

What is the RC story behind Rear Toe-In?

What was the first RC buggy to include rear toe-in as part of its mechanical design? Was the Yokomo 834B the only RC buggy to have won without any rear toe-in? Did Gil Losi Jr. ever think about implementing it into his 4WD at the 1985 IFMAR worlds? He must have known some of the tuning benefits of t...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

I usually do orange just because I'm a main box art slave. However the Rough Rider's body always seemed closer to the blue Bel-Ray Bullet than to Bob Maynard's orange buggy in my eyes (with the understanding Tamiya tweaked the body dimensions to fit around their radio crate). https://tamiyabase.com...

If it's real, it's proof of what I expected all along. The marketing team at AE are using the South Park manatees.

Re: Rere Team car spotted at SEMA

Why a gold chassis ? It's half CE half Team Car.. One of each would be much better than one mixed.

Re: Team Car with gold tub?

Nope, never a team car with a gold chassis until the new rere comes out soon. Team cars were always black ano (on tubs).

Now, we said the same about the 10t and found a Japanese model with a gold chassis come up in auction new in box BUT we have only ever seen the one!
