Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood
What's slowing the battery pack down is the left over solder job from the PO, he must've used a blow torch to solder those on there. where are you located? I could have it done for you. We have countless soldering tools at my business and could likely get it looking excellent. In any event just nee...

Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood
sounds good. offer is always there. We have mostly Pace soldering tools but we have a Hakko 805 for heavy duty stuff. The 888 should have enough power for those w/ the correct tip and flux. And definitely flood some new solder on there, and I'm sure you know but not some lead free BS w/ higher melti...

Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!
Ah.. first thing that came to my mind is RC10L/RC12L... I'm in the process of cleaning up my old 10L's. It has to be the TC3? You know you're getting old when you don't even think it's that old. To this day It's still a great platform.

Re: What's in the mail? Or, What are you currently waiting for?
Do you know what those tires went to? No idea. Never seen anything like it before. I like em tho! coincidently, I was browsing ebay for tires this morning and saw those. They are pro-line 114-R. https://www.ebay.com/itm/305689346362 https://www.ebay.com/itm/326206654846 and looks like this seller h...

RC10L Wheels, Tires & Donuts - Details & Deep Dive (help needed)
I have spent little snippets of time over the past 20 years or so studying up on wheels and tires for the RC10L. I feel like the more time that passes the more some of this info is lost. Back Story Back in the day in 1989 I bought an RC10L. Living in a small town it was almost impossible to get spar...

Re: RC10L Wheels, Tires & Donuts - Details & Deep Dive (help needed)
Recently I found a 1991 TRC catalog that gave me hope. This is where I realized the TRC BBS wheels are also 1.95” diameter. Furthermore, TRC offered many variations of these BBS wheels and also sold donuts for them. Here is what I found specific to the BBS-style wheel & tire: TRC Donuts for BBS ...

Re: looks like we need a rere associated on road section next!
There are a lot of nice used 10L available (I have at least 3, which is too many) and they are a less expensive model because of their simplicity. If the tires can stay hooked up they are ballisticly fast, but traction is an issue. They are just like attaching wheels onto your battery and motor, an...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - '85 Jammin' Jay Halsey Tribute
Looks amazing. I have a very nice box art RC10, but for for me this is really the iconic RC10 look. Especially that side view shot from the ad. The styling and everything about it is warm and fuzzy. I want to do a jammin jay inspired body for one of mine. Not the exact same because I could never get...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
A very unnecessary purchase It came with the documents and box. What connectors were original to this? Haha. I keep seeing those Novak battery boxes for NiMH and want to buy for absolutely no reason :) I had that charger in '86. It came with the Molex/Tamiya just like it has. The battery side of mi...

Re: RC10L Wheels, Tires & Donuts - Details & Deep Dive (help needed)
more updates here: 1) If you have a tire truer your best bet as of the date of this post is to just buy the Contact RC donuts. Ignore that they say they are for buggies. Get the JY45 for the front and JY35 for the rear. I haven't gone down this route yet myself. Regarding the recessed area in the Se...

Re: Traxxas TRX-1
my view of Traxxas is skewed. I was getting out of RC in 91-92 going to college, although I was still reading RCCA a bit and playing w/ my cars in the summers. I always equated Traxxas to Nikko. Barely hobby grade. Maybe it started that way early on? When I got back into RC a little bit buying a TC3...

Re: Old School Vanning Resto
We all used to dream about these cars in the Tower Hobbies catalog - but ones like this were so out of reach that we didn't even bother to dream about them! I remember the Assault and the Burns that I think came after the Vanning. And who didn't daydream about that ridiculous Jaco Jackrabbit :P ... ...

Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread
How is JBL these days? Is the quality still there? I have a soft spot for them since I still have my L100s I bought new in 90 or 91 driven by the same old Carver I bought at the same time. The short answer is 'ok'. Fortunately, they survived the attempt to move almost everything overseas - and stil...

Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread
...but they'll likely never design products again that we did such as the A6000GTi 6000W amp, the W15GTi subs (designed by amazing transducer engineer Jerry Moro), or the 660GTi component system which was one of my favorite products I was able to design - they let me spec just about every part I wan...
