That is cool! Is that a hot trick front end? I thought all/most of their stuff was red aluminum?skunk.werkz wrote:oh man that looks nice, i have seen so little of the front shock setup...i think i need to try and find one of those

Re: Rc12is hot trick build
That's not a HT front end. That is the Associated IS front end, an optional part.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: Rc12is hot trick build
Actually called a monoshock front end I believe. They are rather rare but they do come up on eBay somewhat frequently.

I wasn't into the onroad stuff much bitd. Did many guys use the setup? What about the factory AE guys?
How did it work? I would think if it worked really good there would be a bunch of them out there but this is the first one I have ever saw.

I want to say I remember reading something about it being outlawed in Roar events, also heard or read the same thing about the ABC Hobby X1.fastang wrote:Did many guys use the setup? What about the factory AE guys?

The X-1 does not meet the roar requirements for direct drive.
Have a nice day!

Re: Rc12is hot trick build
Did you build up the monoshock front end from new parts or did they come from a donor car (they look like new). Do you have the sway bar mounts? Those seem to be the trickiest bits to scrounge up unless you have them from the donor car. As far as the rest of the bits I've been collecting them for a while and have all the pieces (plural as in multiples) except the above mentioned sway bar mounts, I've only found 1 set nip in the time I've been looking. This is a really nice build, seems I'm partial to the 1/8th and 1/12th scale on-road cars. I have one RC10L but it just doesn't get me excited like the others do. Keep up the good work.

Re: Rc12is hot trick build
Yeah me to Al i loved my 10l"s because thats what i raced and didn't like 1/12th scale back then but now 1/12th and 1/8th scale associated just gets me all fired up i mean this is the beginning the roots of team associated. The front end is the one from that doner car and it does have the sway bar and mounts allthough it is missing the front radio tray mounts. I think Bill at clines had a set up for sale thinking i should buy them but never pulled the trigger
If anyone has any shoot me a pm
