I need help from the Tamiya guys.

Post by justinspeed79 »

I have been trying to identify this chassis. The closest thing I have found is a TA02RS. The problem is that the chassis has "RCC Civic" stamped on it. The TA02RS was just a chassis kit, so it shouldn't have any specific body type marked on it, right??? Also, the copyright on the chassis says 1993. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm thinking the chassis tub is the same as the FF01 cars, the first was the JACCS Civic, I think... :? I guess I could look at my FF01 Clio and see what is says...

I figued the whole tamiya club would have chimed in with a compelte dissertation by now.

This is a TA02 chassis , you don't have specific body for this chassis , because TAMIYA make differents bodies , like:
Mercedes 190 E
BMW M3 E30
ALFA ROMEO
And all cars who runs in BTCC scale 1.
But all the bodies are vintage now, ...

I think it is a TA02RS because the gearbox plastic is black color. Normanl TA02 kits had red color plastic gearboxes.

Yes, it's a TA02RS, the only one that came with black gearbox mouldings.

The chassis has "RCC Civic" and "copyright 1993" because Tamiya marks the mould with the details of the first car that uses those chassis parts, which is the first car it is designed for, in this case the fwd Civic. As the chassis is used in both the FF01 and TA02 cars they are all marked as RCC Civic.

Sweet. Now the only question is should I keep it or sell it? I've been wanting a drift car, this one would probably work pretty good. It has all the right features, but parts seem to be somewhat hard to find. I found some on ebay, but only the red ones, and not many.

Will the red parts from a regular TA02 work, and can they be dyed black? Anybody know a good place to get parts?

Thanks guys! :D

The gearboxes are the same on all Tamiyas TA01 and TA02 tourers, apart from the colour. Most of them are red. More usefully the same gearboxes are used in the Manta Ray in black, so to replace the gearboxes you need part numbers 0005375 and 9005318 which should be able to be ordered at any Tamiya dealer as they are current spares now the manta Ray has been rereleased.
