Ok got some updates, forgive the camera quality, still using my cell phone, need to find my camera, we just moved so still not sure where everything is, and trying to sneak some RC time in here and there isi a little difficult lol.

Well, I put the hinge pins in the dremel and spun them with fine steel wool on them to get the gunk off them and make them smooth in the arms. Then I shimmed the RB5 axle carriers with the black plastic spacers they came with and then used 2 .2 kyosho shims to take out the rest of the slop so now they have no play front to back, but are smooth and unbinding, then I used some new kyosho 2.5 e clips. Still waiting for my mail to be forwarded from my old address, that is where my steering parts and top deck are, hopefully this weekend I can talk the wife in to letting me order some more parts lol!!! :)

Got the diff cleaned up, took some fine steel wool to the gear shafts to clean them up a bit, the pic makes them look better then they are. This is prob the cleanest this car has been in 20 years lol. More pics once I find my camera cable.

Here is a slipper that I have had since I got the car, is this a Option House part?

Anyone know where I can get a new gear cover?

Nasty inside there, does that even look like its all there? I think it is except for one set screw.

Anyone know where I can get a new shock end?
I need to get some good degreaser to clean the slipper and clean out the old shock oil from the shocks.

Question about the diff and shocks.
Should I just run these ones? Or is there better alternatives? Should I just run these for now since they will work after I rebuild them and upgrade later? Also will these shocks work with the JG shock towers? From what I can tell the JG were for the longer shocks?

Still waiting on the pins to mount the knuckles, ahhh I hate waiting for mail lol.

m_vice wrote:Hey ace, I can find you an original front bulkhead from my LHS if you like (they have one left). Or you can get the one from the ST-15 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWZ18&P=7 .
Let me know, PM me.

This Ultima is going to be pretty cool, and is getting me in the mood to finish my Turbo Ultima and starting a new one.
Keep up the good stuff.

You could ask him if he would sell you just the gear cover, shipping might kinda suck for just one little cover though since the dollar is weak.

i would just use the black molded gear cover, the lexan one, even with the seal, doesnt seem to seal to well
and if you arent using the clutch, which i recommend not using, the molded is a better option

Black gear cover will not fit with the clutch installed. If hes not going to use the clutch then of course he would use the black one, which is easy to find.

Ace -
Did you ever get the grease out of the gearbox? I just caught this thread so I may be a bit late but I have something I know will work to break that grease down.

Try this link-website.

http://www.liftoffinc.com/

Its called Motsenbocker's Lift Off - Stuff works like magic on grease, shock oil, double sided tape residue. put some on the grease and then use an old toothbrush. The grease should come off quickly. Its also environmentally safe so it can go down the drain, unlike some other lift off solutions.

I usually pick it up at Lowe's.

Hope this helps.

Hey thanks, yeah I got the grease off already, I used greased lightning, prob works better for engines and such, but it worked ok. Its clean now though lol.

So its recomended that I don't run the slipper?

I missed my package today with some of my items I orderd :( so luckly I can get it tomorrow morning from the post office!
