My Super Champ
My Super Champ
I bought this car about 8 or 9 yrs ago and it's about 90% complete. The guy who sold it to me rebuilt it as a shelf queen. All of the parts are IMMACULATE, including the inside of the gearbox. The gears and shocks have never been oiled/ greased. Most of the parts were bought as brand new OEM stuff. I have the knobbie tires for the back, but they're sitting in the box until I feel like messing with it. The front rims tires are not original nor are they in good condition. Kind of an eye sore compared to the rest of the car. I need to blow a little more dust off of it and finish it off. Here's a couple pics (sorry for the grainy cell phone pics.) I'd like to get more pics with my good camera (Digital SLR) when I get this car and my gold tub RC10 completed. Let me know what you guys think. (Note; I know that's not where the motor goes. LOL)

Re: My Super Champ
Nice rig mate.Hornet front wheels and tyres are the same and are allways on ebay for cheap.
Re: My Super Champ
I've already got another thread going with my gold pan.
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=12460 This car also needs a few finishing touches but will look nice on a shelf too. LOL
I figured I'll try to get the Hornet/ Grasshopper/ Frog wheels somewhere and at some point. Thanks for the welcoming guys

Re: My Super Champ
BTW I just noticed that the rear tires look "dirty". That's actually a little bit of the white powder that's on them when they're new in the box and the rest is just dust. Just like the rest of the car, the rears have never seen anything but shelves and carpeting. LOL

Re: My Super Champ
Thanks guys! I have 3 kids and all kinds of stuff around the house that take priority when it comes to my free time. So for now the cars are back under my bed. I'll find the time here one of these days. Maybe even get my son involved in helping me redo them.
Re: My Super Champ
Update! The body was snapped off right behind the front shocks. Still pretty pissed about it. Might end up turning it into a Scorcher if I can't get another body for a decent prices ($100 or less).

Re: My Super Champ
Ouch. I've gotten pretty good at repairing that rear portion that is always cracked right up against the roll bar. There are plenty of those types out there for cheap.
The real tragedy is the decals,
if you don't want repros, those are the real killer that push the $$ for the body kits off the chart.

Re: My Super Champ
NIB SuperChamp bodysets are off the planet... wonder if they'll ever be re-re'd....
Hornet/Frog wheels & tyres used to be like $60+ a pair until they were re-re'd.
Looks like you're missing front bumper? Black re-re items are cheap but beige originals
(as a SuperChamp would use; only the very early few RR/SSs had black bumper originally)
are still asking high $$s.

Re: My Super Champ
I am actually going to try and super glue/ sand/ buff and rework the body back together. Then prime/ paint it. Not sure how well it's going to work but it can't get any worse. LOL The decals are a bummer but even some repro's would surfice.
As for the missing bumper, I am aware of that.
The car is only about 80% complete. Gotta be honest and say I don't care about the bumpers on SC's anyways. I think they look like crap on there anyways and I'd probably take it off even if I had one on there. LOL

Re: My Super Champ
if you've got the broken bit, don't use superglue - use a suitable plastic cement that welds it together.
Superglue only sits on top/between the 2 parts; welding makes it one.
Airfix/Tamiya/Humbrol/Tenex all make model cement.
The paint can be stripped off any ABS plastic using caustic oven cleaner, no damage to ABS.

Cool! Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure and use cement. I assume I can paint over it after it's fully dried and sanded?
