Re: New Schumacher Cougar 2wd buggy!!!!
The sad part about my website is that I havent been able to update it for years - thats about a 1/3 of my collection! It has taken nearly 14 years or so to amass that lot, then I have runners and projects as well - I am a true "tragic" for this hobby.
Keeping the thread about cars though (dont want to upset people!;) ), do you think the Cougar SV will be ok on clay tracks at all - has there been any testing done on those kind of surfaces?
cheers

I think the cougar will be just fine on clay, its not really been tested on actual clay, but has been on similar surfaces eg the cork/rubberised flooring here http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/worksopplayersrematch/ , which has some of the characteristics of a clay track.
I raced my X6 at the JConcepts Clash on clay in 2008 and we found that 'drive' was one of the biggest problems, adding weight seemed to help, so thats an option for you guys when you get the cougar...

Wow - I haven't raced up a Worksop for probably about ten years.... looks like its come on somewhat since then, I can't believe the size of the ramps & banked corner!... the lighting looks somewhat brighter too?smokin wrote:I think the cougar will be just fine on clay, its not really been tested on actual clay, but has been on similar surfaces eg the cork/rubberised flooring here http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/worksopplayersrematch/ , which has some of the characteristics of a clay track.

Those pictures of the Cougar SV (boy its gorgous!) & all this sudden re-sergence of off road racing might tempt me away from Boringcars!

BRCA Winter Championship Finals (basically the official UK Indoor Championship for 2009) took place at Worksop, UK this weekend, Simon Moss won using the Cougar SV on its debut, another SV driven by Tom Cockerill was 10th, I was 9th with my X6
. There will be a report on oOple in the next few days with loads of pictures..

OMG - the pics are out..some VERY VERY clever thinking going on withthe design of the car. Both Saddles and stick can be used. Rear shocks can be mounted in front of or behind the shock tower - lots of subltle adjustments all around the car.
jeeeez - 2wd is getting hot as well now - the next year and a half or so are going to be VERY interesting. With the Durango inevitable, rumours of Tamiya, X-Ray and X factory also prototyping - its gonna be awesome!
Cheers

It looks really nice, but just like I thought it will be way out of my price range. $301 US for the S1 version with garbage shocks and $429US for the pro. I'll keep my cheap car, I can have 2 FT B4s for that price.
