Tecnacraft Aero-Trac
Anyone have any info, such as time frame, success, prices, etc. Was it banned from racing? Any data to support its functionality?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Tecnacraft Aero-Trac
I have one on an RC10L and I believe another member here has one also. They're cool but just don't know how good they were in actual competition. Looks like tuning it would be a tough but they sure do look cool on the shelf.

Re: Tecnacraft Aero-Trac
I'm fairly sure they would work. I made a diffuser for my F103, and it DID work. I was so shocked I made 2 other guys at the track drive it to make sure I was not going crazy. I also took it off the car during the same battery pack and the car was less planted.
Here's a decent thread on this sort of thing from rctech, also has pictures of my F1 diffuser

Re: Tecnacraft Aero-Trac
I used to race an F102 in Europe with the Tamiya Diffuser, and it seemed to work better in some situations better than others. But I am trying to get at the history and development of the Aero-Trac in general. Thanks though for the link.

Re: Tecnacraft Aero-Trac
Update got a reply today:
" The Aero-Trac actually came to be, while doing some testing at the velodrome in San Jose, Ca. The track was a bicycle track and it was huge and the cars were getting airborne on the straights. We made some crude tunnels and adapted them to the chassis in an effort to hold the car to the track and they actually worked.
Went back to the shop and drew it up with motor mounts and a vacumeformed rear pod. They were never banned as far as I know. Joel ran them in 1/12th and 1/10th scale at Cleveland and the Ranch Pitstop for the worlds and won. I think actually it was more car, motor, batteries and the "Magic Man" than the pod. But it gave us some bragging rights and it sold the kits. I do not have any of them. I sold Tecnacraft to a guy in 1998 and he got sick and passed away. His wife threw out most of the stuff he had. Made me cry when I heard. I actually still own the molds for the pods....."
Thanks for your interest and again I am sorry it took me so long to answer you.
