That is the actual original predator. The Lynx was the next in line. It had the 4 link (lynx) rear end. The Lynx 2 was a joint effort between Composite Craft and TRC. I used my first lynx to race on dirt oval and it worked great. The lynx 2 had improvements to fix the lynx's weak spots. (it was a pain to get all 4 of the links and the 2 micro shocks even) I think the Lynx looked way cooler than it actually worked. You used the shocks to control the up and down/ side to side roll, but on other cars, (rc10L) you had seperate ways to adjust side to side and up and down. I think that is the reason for the Lynx2. Sway bar for side to side and a shock for up and down. The Lynx 2 also had the round front axle so you could adjust the front castor and the Predator/Lynx just had the flat carbon fiber front crossbar. (no castor at all)
You have one of the earliest 1/10 scale on-road cars made, so don't ever get rid of it!

I think those wheels are Bolink, does it have the inscription on the backside of the wheel where it mounts to the hub?

I think it was about 1987/88. I bought my first Lynx in or around 1988. Those are Bolink wheels. The parts are ultra rare but the good news is you can finish the front end with Bolink (or similar) front axles and steering blocks from the eliminator. (they are pretty common) You might have to get creative on finishing the rear end. They are rare so nobody will ever notice it. Have fun with it and honor it with a nice GTP body. :D

The axle is pretty close. Most likely steel. After about 1990 they all had the longer diff. side hub like the 10l's. I feel bad because I can't remember what shock or spring the predator had on the rear. I think it was just a spring set up like the older rc12L's had. I'm pretty sure there was no shock, though. We were using 64 pitch gears back then, but with graphite axles. Bolink had steel axles mostly and I bet that's what you have since you also have the Bolink wheels. I think you are just missing the front steering blocks and a good body and then you can show off an awesome part of 1/10 scale on-road history. Composite Craft was the king of graphite back then.
