Lazer chassis-what is it???

Post by AscotConversion »

I have a chassis that I believe is for the Lazer, but has some strange holes from what I see in manuals on line...Any ideas?

just guessing, but maybe the holes on the rear are for short and long wheel base?

the one up front is so the battery post can be moved back for a 3x3 battery configuration instead of the 4x3.

not sure what the one in the coner of the cell slot would be for........

It's not strange, it's normal :-) I'm guessing it's a graphite chassis, either aftermarket or a Kyosho part released after the ZX-RR (or ZX-R mk.2) came out

1) The holes at the rear are for the gearbox (x2) and the rear pivot block (x2) - hence 4

2) One tab inside the battery slot is for 6 cell use, the other for the centre top deck mount. You have to remove them permanently for 7 cell use along with a bit of the centre top deck mount which comes in two parts for that reason.

3) The 4 holes you've ringed in the middle are for the ZX-R and ZX-R mk.2 which had the cells laid out slightly differently fore/aft, resulting in a different motor plate. This moved the plastic brace back on the chassis by a few millimetres. This chassis will fit either version.

HTH,

Ian

The gearbox casings and pivot mounts were identical on all lazers so the wheelbase option is the only one. I did see a few prototypes with a cut out rear mount with the pivot block bolted to the chassis so is possible that this was for that.
