Daddeo's A&L build!
Daddeo's A&L build!
Well I finally opened up my A&L chassis kit and decided to build it. I have a donor car for parts but some will be custom/hand made as well. Not too many details right now but wanted to go ahead and start cataloging the build. Here's a few pictures to get started with and as it progresses I will post details of interesting parts of the build, enjoy!

I bet it feels good to open that bag and grab those new prats in your hands.
Keep the pics coming.

Oh yeah
!
I went ahead and fabricated a new motorplate as I can't bring myself to cut an original no matter what shape it's in
. I haven't finished it yet as I don't know if I'm going to use a 6 gear or Stealth.

Re: Daddeo's A&L build!
Thanks guys!
I made a little more progress this evening. Finished the motorplate enough for test fit and also trimmed a rear bulkhead. I never thought a nylon bulkhead could be so tedious of a task. I was thinking, "cut-off wheel on dremel, wham-bam-thank-you mam!" but not quite so cut and dry. It turned out okay but needs to be dyed as it's a gawd-awful purple color at the moment. I hope to get more done during this weekend and possibly finish it up too!

Re: Daddeo's A&L build!
Neat project. How did you shape that piece of kydex? Heat gun and a vise? Did you bend it over a form?
Also, I've always wondered about the rear geometry in these A&L trailing arm set-ups. It looks like the track narrows, i.e. each arm moves inward, with compression. Was this a useful suspension set-up in practice, or is this just a super-cool anachronism for vintage geeks?

TZona - Thanks!
shirochanwrx - The kydex rear bumper came like that with the kit. The rear geometry was done this way to optimize the suspension for rough tracks.

Okay, made a little more progress but was busy today. Doing test fitting right now and everything is working out good except I don't have a front tower yet
. After everything is fabricated, fitted, and tweaked then the nose, motorplate, and a few misc. items will be painted. Going to use some hard anodized team car shocks for this build, should look good with overall color scheme
.

Nice Build! I have an A&L front shock tower if you are interested. It's for long shocks.Daddeo wrote:Okay, made a little more progress but was busy today.
