Has this been covered before? I think so but can't find the thread. I remember someone had a chassis covered in paint and managed to remove the paint without damaging the anodizing.
I would like to do the same and was wondering what the best product to use is?
Is it;
Thinners
Alcohol
Nitro fuel
I am based in the UK so if there are any brand names from the UK users that'd be great too.
I would think brake fluid would be able to take the paint off without hurting the annodizing, but I'm not 100% sure. I've used brake fluid to strip plenty of hard bodies and model parts. I'd try a test piece, maybe paint a junk annodized part and see if it works on it.

This was going to be my suggestion as well. I've never tried BF on anodized parts, but I would think that it would be fine.
Ok. The test piece is a good idea. I am pretty sure that brake fluid wasn't what was used before but might give it a go if no one has any other suggestions. Though I'd have to source some brake fluid....
i used paint reducer that i have at work to take the paint off these parts. there is some discoloration on the tub, but i don't know if it was like that before it was painted.
Thanks guys I'll look into all those things. I had been using an oven cleaner for the shock towers and plastic parts but it'd be good to have a product that does everything including aluminium.
I did some searching, but didn't find anything. I just purchased a CE edition gold pan and someone painted alot of the nylon. It is still in good condition, just looks horrible. Can these be soaked in Super Clean or brake fluid like styrene to strip...
after sitting on a nice set of lunsford T2 turnbuckles i finaly get to use them on a new build but t my dismay two are to longafter checking the manual YES THERE TO FR*****G LONG well i see it as a chalenge so i hit the parts bin and bring out some...

I use a lye and water solution to strip anodising. Works way better than oven cleaner.
So i've got a set of plastic rims, im guessing made of nylon, that were painted a long time ago. Needless to say, the paint now looks absolutely horrible and id like to try and remove it.
Any suggestions as to what chemical can do this w/o...

Thanks for posting that guys. I just picked up an RC10 that I plan to freshen up and run it. This will be one of the first things I do.
Does anyone have any tried and true methods for saving old parts like these? Not concerned with the wheel, just the tire. Just grabbed these off fleabay. Appreciate any suggestions.

Tried a variety of things. The best is in the ultrasonic cleaner with the heat on, which softens the paint making it flexible and can then be picked and peeled off. Took a small sample of rubber and soaked it on the acetone with no ill effect to the...
Hello everyone - I have a couple of car bodies that the paint is chipping. I would like to refinish as they have the stickers on them. I seen that tamiya has a paint remover. Is this fine to use to remove all the paint or is it just for cleaning up...

I've tried nitro fuel too. If DOT3 brake fluid won't remove it, nitro fuel won't even touch it. :(
Thanks for mentioning that about Pactra paint by the way, good to know.
And I'll post my nitro fuel results on the 18-19 yr old paint.
