I think your motorplate needs looking at, the motor screw slots should be horizontal not vertical

I have the same gearbox and the slots are vertical, what's up with that?

I'm sort of new to vintage Schumachers so I have no idea. As soon as Richieflax mentioned it I tried to find some pics of other motorplates but couldnt find any.

The vertical slots are correct! It has to do with the clearance of the motor. The gearbox is elongated compared to stock cougar 2 so there is not enough horizontal play for the motor to use different pinions. Mine is the same way.

You got alloy rollers too. You lucky dog. I have one set but I am so afraid of shearing off the plastic ends that I have not even put them on. I run the plastics because they are a dime a dozen. One of the best looking buggies of all time IMO.

I'll probably start tearing it down this weekend. I'm already gathering part numbers. I'm hoping that with the help of ebay and the nice folks here on rc10talk, I can get her running soon.

Cougar 2 WORKS are tha bomb!
The Cougar2 is my all time favourite 2WD but the works has all the good stuff!
Seriously hard to find a genuine original in good condition now days.

They pop up occasionally on Ebay.co.uk but often sellers dont post outside of UK.
