10t diff prob

Post by tommy217xxx »

So, I have a 10t and the diff keeps loosening up. I took the trans apart and replaced the diff balls and the little diff rings. I put everything back togather and for some reason the diff keeps coming loose. Does anyone have any ideas?

You installed it backwards or the T nut is bad- the 5/64 adjuster hex has to be on the same side as the input shaft, otherwise it loosens with every burst of the throttle.

I did have it in backwards but I swapped it around a few days ago and I'm still having the problem. I'll try and replace the t nut next.

Check the thrust balls and the 2 washers, if anything is missing it will not have enough clamping force to hold the adjustment. You may have grooved the rings a bunch if it was a hot motor and it was slipping a bunch.

Hey thanks. I'm gonna replace the thrust bolt, washers and balls and the t nut and that should solve my problem.

My 10t has been sitting for about that last 20 years and I decided to throw a castle short course system in it nad I prob over heated something.
