I didn't see why I should go up to a much more expensive 3 channel transmitter and now I know that I don't have to. 5 car memory is plenty for me and the price is good. Thanks for the help guys. Now it's time to go figure out brushless motors, speed controls, lipos, and charge rates! What happened to the good old days where you just bought an ESC, a battery, and a motor and just installed them?
Yeah, the good old days when you had to have a seperate battery pack for practice, each heat race and the main because you weren't supposed to use them more than once a day and motors where you had to worry about breaking in correctly, soldering capacitors on and hoping that the brushes didn't bounce on the commutator or get hung up and not make contact at all...
That being said, I really do miss those days... Some of the best times in my life!
I sometimes removed the hot battery from the car after a heat and immediately threw it back on the 15 minute fast charger to get it ready for the next race! Sometimes it was so hot you couldn't even hold it. I've had the shrink wrap start to melt before.
Motor capacitors? We don't need no stinking capacitors! It's just a little glitch.
Motor break in? What's that? We called that running the car as fast as you could. I remember I bought some Trinity advanced timing brushes for my motor and installed them right before a race. I installed them upside down so instead of advancing the timing by 6 degrees, I retarded it by 6! I think I still got 3rd in the main that night.

After searching for info on ABS and brakes I’m just coming up with info on ABS plastics and bodies.
I’m about to buy a new 2.4 GHz radio and do away with the old FM one. Is a radio with ABS not so necessary and more of hype or is it really liked by...

Thanks guys, based on that I wont let the lack of ABS on the radio influence my purchase choice.
In the late 2000s I bought a Hitec Eclipse Pro Car 3-channel programmable FM transmitter to run all of my faster RC cars (well, the ones that actually saw a track... ). Now I would like to convert it to 2.4 GHz by swapping the module.
Looking...

The spectrum modules being discontinued is a pain, I want to cannibalise one to convert a Futaba Magnum to 2.4 so I can use spectrum receivers.
I picked up a new Losi handset for my micro crawler, and 3 sr300 spektrum rxs for $100 the lot, which pair to the Losi fine, all in all a good system for all my micros for around $150.
The Traxxas Summit radio with 4ch is avaailable in 2.4 about...
I'm entering the world of ghz radio technology for the first time and considering the Spektrum SPM SR200 2-Channel DSM Sport Receiver with one of their stick radios. Since they don't come with servos, can anyone confirm that their receivers are...

Spektrum receivers are compatable with all standard servos (made within the last 15 years or so anyway). The only problem you may run into is a futaba style plug with the ear, which the ear will need to be cut off. Also beware of cheap high power...
I'll be honest, like big brakes on full sized cars, something about radios with lots of cool buttons really gets me going. My new to me Futaba 7C that I bought used for the Kyosho Blizzard, to allow channel expansion for lights and other...

I have a small collection of old radios that are in fairly nice shape. Basicaly anything that was around back when I was starting out mid to late 80's catches my eye.
Does anyone know roughly the range of a 75mhz FM radio(an M8 to be exact)? I've never had any problems, but I'm curious. I know the surroundings can make a difference, but let's just say under average conditions.

Hey thumber,
I have had a few JR fms but have no problems with range and I get them out there so far that I can't see what its doing. I've actually had to just stop and keep turning slowly til I seen it was 'crossing' my view and then turn towards...
