pick up another gold pan last night. i should have it next week. maybe by sat., depending how he ships it. here's some pics.

well, it finally showed today. looks good, and a intact. needs a good cleaning. i guess i'll start tearing it down tonight. it'll give me something to do. to bad i have to cut my grass first.

well, i got farther on it than i thought, tonight anyway. the car's in real nice shape. it definitely wasn't used much. the a-arms are yellowed pretty good, though. other than that, it's cleaning up descent.

well, i found out that super strength greased lighting cleaner will remove anodizing.

i took the shocks apart and wanted to clean the bodies a little bit, and my sink started turning gold. so, there was no going back, so i finished stripping them. i broke out the aluminum polish and my dremel, and started polishing. i left the caps gold. i don't know if i like it. what do you guys think?

That's the reason I only use simple green, it's very effective at cleaning RC's. They look "unique" for sure but not very appealing to me.

the rear shock bodies were worn pretty good, anyways. i would've had to replace them. oh well, if i don't keep them on this, i'll use them on something else. they polished up nice though.

You definately polished them up very nicely. The more I look at them, the more that color combo grows on me.

How did you use it that it took off the anodizing? Did you soak it with the greased lightning cleaner because I'm always looking for something mild that won't pit the aluminum.

once i sprayed them, it didn't take long for it to start coming off. so, i just kept spraying them, and using an acid brush to rub it off.

it says on the bottle that you shouldn't use the greased lightning on plain, anodized, or alloy aluminum. i saw that after i was done, though. it did seem to oxidize the aluminum at little bit, but it polished right out.

Looks like it took the anodizing off as good as Ez-off oven cleaner

if i decide to strip the shock caps, i'm gonna try oven cleaner on those. i'll be able to see which stuff takes it off better. i mght get a set of the blue caps to strip, since i don't have alot of nice gold ones.

I would use the blue caps since they're readily available. It's getting kind of hard to find gold caps in good condition.

what kind of cleaner do you guys use on the plastic parts, so they come clean and won't hurt the nylon.?
