losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
Hey guys. My mum was threatning to throw my old losi xx in the trash so i rescued it from her! It hadnt been used in many years so i gave it a good clean and got it running again. Then i found what i think is an xx kinwald on ebay just 25mins away from me in Scotland. I always drooled over these as a kid but my paper round didnt quite provide the means to buy one.... Anyway i picked it up with a pile of tyres and nip parts for not much coin at all. I quite fancy putting in one of these new fangled brushless systems, do you think the kinwald will handle it? Any suggestions for a suitable motor, esc battery combo? Anyway, here they are..... p.s let me know if its a geniune kinwald

Re: losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
That Kinwald XX looks spot on to me, all the trademarks, looks to be in good condition too! I'd put that on the shelf if I were you and convert the other to brushless. The car should handle it fine, that gearbox has more or less stayed the same from the XX to the XXX, which has only just been superceeded by the 22, and even then its more or less the same...
You might find the hydra drive might suffer if its got one, you might be better off converting to a dual disk slipper setup, which is easy enough to do (its on the Kinwald car!)

I am with Jamin put the dual slipper on it and go for it. the XX will handle anything you put on it. they are still a very good running buggy.

Re: losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
Both cars look really nice - I really like the paint design on the Kinwald's shell.
The Black XX looks like a very early one with the slider driveshafts & lighter coloured shock bodies.... not sure if this spec car would have had the hydradrive anyway?

Re: losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
Thanks for the info chaps! The black xx is pretty much poverty spec and came with bushings. I have a dynamite bb set waiting to be fitted. Don't think it has a hydra drive. Its pretty immaculate whereas the kinwald has been raced and will need dismantled completely to clean it up. Shame its not the other way round!
Ive ordered a pile of bits for it which are currently winging over the Atlantic as i type(i hope!) This morning i decided to fit a nip set of the original tyres and a nice clean gear cover as the old one was rotten. The parts i would really like are the trinity blue anodised f+r bulkheads and a shiny new X-cellerator shell.
One other thing. The chassis brace seems to have had a spar removed? Is that to aid access to the steering assembly? Its a pain as i cant find any reasonably priced replacements!

Re: losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
We used to cut that part out of the front brace to save a bit of weight (not much obviously
) - we also used to remove a peice from the brace below (i'm guessing that these two braces are where the buggy gets the 'XX' name?)
We also used to cut down the rear tower removing the outer hole that was never used & we'd remove the loops on the chassis that were no longer needed if you used the 'CR' battery strap. It was all small amounts, but I guess it added up & helped with ensuring the batteries lasted the full race distance before 'dumping'
Great buggies for sure

Re: losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
Be careful if you run the car with an ally front bulkhead (these are very rare BTW), while I agree they look awesome, BITD most people took them off because if you crashed, it broke the chassis rather than a wishbone or the plastic bulkhead...
Oh, and it seems Rick has just done a run of bodyshells, see here:

Re: losi xx + losi xx cr kinwald
Big thanks to Rick! My shiny new xcellerator shell arrived a few days back all the way from Hollywood Md! Got another package of goodies as well from the states, all sorts of bits and pieces for the kinwald. Really pleased to pick up an unmolested chassis brace as mine was chopped to save weight. Anyone know who made the blue steering assembly? Wrong blue for trinity.... Its the same blue as the associated screw kit i picked up. Also got a trinity chassis+tranny brace in correct light blue. Im no kenooze so just gonna throw it together and hope it looks good. Would love a trinity anodised screw kit but cant ever seem to find one. As for my black xx its currently being converted to brushless+lipo setup. Pics to follow!
