Search function failed me here... anyone know of a simple way to get the gray/white crud off the tires in the attached photo? They're brand new, came with an early 7001 kit that was partially assembled but never finished - they've been sitting in the box since it was purchased. Not sure if it's the original mold release coating or what, but I'd like the tires to be the proper black color without the raised crud. Suggestions are welcome, trying to avoid sandpaper or the Dremel.
Left out that my original attempts were with Simple Green and a scrub brush... it took a minimal amount off, what you see in the pic is the 'after' photo from those attempts. Dish soap I have not tried, is there any specific (chemical) reason behind using that? Thanks for the help, everyone.
Yea just give them a good scrub with soap and warm water. If you want to give them a nice deep black shine I have used Maguire’s tire shine, it helps hide the white residue. You can basically use any rubber conditioner. I have heard rubbing baby oil works also.
I use a basic Dawn dishwashing soap and scrub brush. The dawn works great on grease and such and not so bad here. Don't know if there are any chemicals in it that make it easier but like lowgear said...its about the only thing I use on R/C stuff too besides an air compressor.

Ok, i just rebuilt my 10T Team, Anybody know how to clean tires without messing them up? I'm trying to remove the whitish colored stuff, I'm guessing its oxidization? I have used a mild cleaner, kinda like a heavy duty dish soap lol.

Simple Green & water + scrub brush, then wipe them down with WD40. That's what we did for tires at the track for off road and dirt oval. Simple Green alone is a great tire softener and cleaner, too.
I have 20-30 year old tires, which have not been cleaned in as much time. The rubber is relatively stiff (maybe dry) but in great visual condition with all of the spikes and no cracking of the rubber. These tires will be mostly for display. I want...

I've been said that glycerine is giving very good results on old tires after proper cleaning (hot water and dish soap) to make the tires softer again... It also works with WD40 (general purpose one): I can confirm this as I tried myself. I don't...
Hi. As i had mentioned in the welcome forum, I decided to purchase two new, never run, assembled RC10's from a local hobby shop. I'm quite exited to have them.

Man, that Lego set brings back fond memories. :D
852 is a crap model for playability
The rack&pinion relies solely on clutchpower to hold it together
and the transmission is really only 1WD

What a tasty combination of your setup. Really enjoy this pearl of a build!
Hi all, I'm new to this forum. Not new to remote control cars, but the last time I was seriously into them might have been about the time my new, never used Team RC10 gold pan was purchased in the mid '80s. It is the #6010 $225 complete kit....

The kit came from my uncle several years ago, and has been up in a closet since then. I honestly thought that the red wheels and shock spring perches, and suspension arms were a feature of the year of that kit, not painted or dyed, and this is...
Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if there was a list anywhere of online sources for NOS rc10 parts besides ebay? I know the main AE site has some items, and there is the aeteam.net site that JHarris posted in my modern wing thread, but I can't find...

ebay is your only source for a 6 gear trans case.
Dang, that's what I was afraid of! Thanks for letting me though...I had some false hope after seeing the AE site and the aeteam site thinking that *maybe* somewhere out there someplace might still...
I have always liked the TRX3 so finished building this one. I picked it up from a buddy of mine that started building it but never finished. It is my latest build with a few option parts. The hardest part to find was the MIP CVD Kit.

Mark, I'm not sure what my overall plans are for this buggy.
