The best cells for me were the Black casing SCRC's ....couldnt kill them - they had really good punch. I just made sure that I put them on the individual cell discharge rack after draining them after each and every run. Charged at 5 to 6 amps depending on the class and temp of the day. Brilliant cells for the day.
The post man turned up today and with a day off work I decided to tidy these little jems up.
I'm not one for before and after pics but I'm sure Alex will be suprised when he sees how these turned out.
All the heat shrink was removed along with battery bars/straps/wires etc.. then cleaned up with shelite and new heat shrink to finish them off.
Goodness knows how many work but I was suprised at how good the condition of most of these cells were. Alex you have yet again looked after me and I will promise to take good care of them for you.

Look for a rather large package of crappy cars, needing lots of cleaning, coming your way! And, I know how you are about nitros, so I'll make sure they are all gas-powered...

After researching info on the 1700 SCRC batteries it would seem they should be charged in Linear mode at an average of around 4 amps.
Novak recomend anywhere between 3-6 amps. I think the concensus is though that they should be charged according to the kind of use the racer expects wants from them. Lower amp charge rates should result in slightly longer run time while higher amps should give more punch.

Man 1700SCE what a battery. Back in the day I'd spend $100-125 a pack just to try and make an A-main with my CW Dominator and still couldn't be fast enuff and make 4 mins.. That was a bunch of money back then just because the SCE couldn't handle the abuse. I remember being at Lake Whipporwill running stock class and talking to Steve Rule and Bolinks main engineering guy, name slips my old mind, and he told me to charge a SCE for my main at the highest amperage I could throw at it. Well I had a Navcom 15 max amp charger and put the 15 amps into it. It worked but threw that battery away before leaving Florida. I did get about a 3 foot trophy for the cost of a battery and other expenses lol. Man lipos is the poor man answer to RC. I gotta find the pics and post them up.
i used to run them in mod in sweden 1/12 six cells range of motors where between 13 and 17 winds and they didnt liked to be run for more then 8 minutes and they didnt liked to be stored empty or have resistors on them.
Otherwise they where really good and i still have packs that work i even solder some invidual cells up to an pack for my daughters jeep the kind the children sit in and yes they managed that to.
And yes 1/12 with six cells and 13*4 motors are fast.
Dumb question... are these old batteries even useful to run a car on? I have a few old NiCAD packs and they are totally worthless now, I always assumed they had a usable lifetime then were just totally worthless... or are these for shelf queens?
I have some that i use they are panasonic efter the blue ones i thonk they where da crap back in the days but now i think i can get 1500 in them and they last a couple of minutes with an stock 05 but its my daughter thats running them. and she have fun for the 2-3 minutes

yeah they where nip and they are now gone i gave them away actually they where seven at the begining there where also some trinity Ex-tech but couldnt find them.
I agree. I highly doubt you'll get a lot of run time out of these earlier cells. Even making race time was an issue back in the day and cars needed to be geared/built to deal with that issue back then.
We simply don't really appreciate how good we have it now days. Well some of us anyways.

I wonder the same... are there experts that can weigh in? I'm assuming that they would only be good for shelf queens but I could be wrong. In fact, I'm probably wrong.
