...would I need to cover a shell??
Gonna get some Tamiya acrylic paint to freshen up the Raider but I don't know how much I'll need, 10ml, 23ml???

I always use 100ml Tamiya spray cans, they are enough to give 2 thin coats of paint to your raider and surely to do other raider too. So expect a body could need about 15 or 20 ml per coat
Tamiya has 2 or 3 kinds of red, choose the brigther one if you are going for artbox colours,
I usually end the inside with a coat of white to put more "live" in the colour.It turns more deep and rich doing this.Unless you are doing a raider ARR, that was black and black does not need that third coat.
If you choose tamiya colours, ref must start with PS- , P stands for policarbonate, never use TS- coded sprays as they will chip and fall apart from your body.
A question, is that paint you mentioned intended for lexan bodies? 10 and 23 ml are very small cans looks more like the paint used for static kits.
