Brushless RC10t?

Post by Jschoenb »

I've been thinking about going brushless for my RC10t basher. I was just wondering if the stealth tranny can handle it. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks

Stealth tranny, yes. 6-gear transmission, not preferable. Stick with a 7.5 or higher though, lower turn brushless tend to overstress the small slipper and diff (in comparison to the modern cars that they were designed for).

I'll go brushless with my 10T project but I have all metal gears (MIP tranny)

From the past I can tell you that if you don't adjust correctly your diff (if it slips too much) your gonna fry the diff gear in 5 min or less  ...been there, done that

I ran a Mamba Max 7700 system in my runner 10T for awhile. Initially the only damage was a bent CVD axle, secondary damage was only minor wear to the diff gear and balls. Just as saucisse said, adjust your diff appropriately or failure is imminent!

Thanks, couple more questions though. What do you mean by 7.5 or higher and also how do you adjust the differential?

Basically you have to crank down hard on the diff screw to the point where you barely has any diff action. if it's too loose, the diff will slip so much and cause so much heat that the gear will melt. This is the reason why traxxas has all steel gears in their new brushless versions.

That is the number of turns. The lower the number the more the power. Plus the shorter the battery life. Keep it @ 7.5 turns or more and you'll save your drive train and improve run times.
