RC10L Chassis...

Your right, I do remember being a little narrow in the rear end with the extenders. It's been a couple of years since I ran those cars, let me dig one out this weekend and take a measurement.

OK, this is my first cut as far as a RC10L2.5 top plate. Please review and see if I'm headed in the right direction...



I'll dimension the part out tomorrow if I don't get any comments...

Thanks again for you help, even though my top plate is very similar to the PRC top plate, neither will work with today's brush-less motors. I'll scrap this design and get back to the drawing board...

Here's my second and third attempt for this RC10L2.5 top plate:




I thinking that the bottom version will be the better of the two, I'm trying to avoid the solder tabs on the newer brush-less motors.

Have you seen this companies carbon fiber sheets? I am thinking about ordering one to machine a few parts out of.
Pretty sure this stuff would look awesome cut into a custom RC10!!
So far i am really liking your design. Looks great!

OK got the first set of parts fab'd for me! My good friend, Dan at RC Carbon Works (http://www.rccarbonworks.com) routed out some nurf's for me based on my sketches. As soon as I locate the Lipo cradle on my RC10L chassis, I'll have him fab a chassis for me.





I sketched the shorter nurf's for the RC10LSO and the RC10LSS and Dan made a pair up as well. I installed them on a RC10L3O and they look and fit great too.

OK, I've kinda gone off in a tangent with this RC10L2.5 pod, so after this posting, I'm going to make it a stand alone topic. I need to get back to my original design of the RC10L chassis.



Anyway, you can see my progress, what do you think???

OK, I finally got a chance to work on my design this past weekend. I located the two Lipo cradles on the chassis. Like I said before I wanted to use the same technique that was used on the Associated B44 as far as locking in the Lipo's. I plan to use the B44's battery strap, posts and thumb screws.

could it be possible to mill out the area on the chassis, where the lipos will be situated? it'll lower your cg, and weight as well.

you not going with the narrower rear end?

you could also add additional bracing to the rear end. like hpi's rear end brace.

True, I can also create a "X" pattern underneath where the Lipo's would rest, this would definitely shave off some weight.

My original concept was for a RC10L/RC10LS wide (235mm) chassis, I'm aware they have little popularity here in the states, being shadowed by the more acceptable 200mm cars, but that's all I drive...
