Just dug out my RC10 team edition and sprint car

Post by JRL 13 »

Hey guys, back in about 95/96 I bought a NIB RC10 team car and sprint car from a buddy, built it and ran it ocasionally (when bored w/ my Losi XXT). Only ran it a few times and then it sat on a shelf until a few months ago.

Just got back into the hobby and I plan on doing a few updates to run the modern stuff. Just put in new MIP CVDs, painted a new body, ordered some JC wheels and am looking for a 17.5 brushless setup. Through the process I have come up with a few questions. I hate the stock buggy steering so I scavenged the truck steering rack out off the sprint car, extended the wheelbase (front only) of the buggy and dropped the steering in it (used 22T curved servo horn on the servo to get a straight throw on the steering). Everything fits great and the steering seems to work alot better. My question is....is this common to do? any ill effects?

Here are some pics...

Onto the sprint car....I really have no interest in and was wondering if it is worth any $$? It is not in the best shape but most of the conversion parts are there as well as a MIP trans. Is it worth puttin up on ebay or should I just hang on to it?

Thanks!

welcome to the forum. Got a couple nice runners there. Not a common thing in the buggy to do it like that. There are lots of aftermarket buggy ballbearing steering systems that would work out for you there instead of lengthening to the truck length. Some do it but for other reasons. It will actually make your buggy turn wider and slower but will steady it out at high speeds like on an oval. Looks good and will work the way you got it though til you find a reason to change it

As far as your sprinter it is worth whatever the person wanting it is willing to pay. A little more about it here at #10 rules page.

Again welcome to the forum and hope you don't get as addicted as some of us around here

Thanks for the welcome and info. Sorry about violating rule #10...was just curious if it worth going through the hassle of selling. I have no problem holding on to it for parts (just realized it has Andy's arms on it!) or maybe a future project, which brings me to your last statement. I AM fully addicted to RC already. Just got back into the hobby in January and have already bought 2 more RCs. So right now I have the 2 RC10s, XXt, 22T, Jammin SCRT10, and a Mauri Big Bear (my 1st RC ever...think I was 8 or 9?). Also have 3 boats...haha.

Well since you're addicted allready then you might as well keep it. You'll see someones build around here and wish you still had it if you sell it. But in general, yes, it is worth selling. Ebay would be a good place to do some research for either an Ascot or Big Boys sprint car but personally I'd be keeping it for the parts or just for a future project. Either way, it sounds like you'll be around for awhile and if you decide at a later date once you get b/s/t access you can always post it up in there to save the ebay hassles.

p.s. this also comes from a guy who really doesn't get rid of alot of anything

This project kinda spun out of control. haha. Ended up tearing the whole buggy down to give it a good cleaning, brightened the yellowed plastic and powdercoated the chassis. This what I ended up with.

No one seems to be interested, but it runs! Just gotta get some double sided tape to mount the RX, switch, BEC and clean up the wiring. Then off to the track to figure out the gearing.

i would keep the dirt oval buggy. and fix it up. you have a lot of excellent parts on it. they're still desirable. they're are a lot people here that have some fixed up really nice.
