Well in fact a good member here gave this car and he shipped it in the Philippines and during my vacation i was able to clean and inspect the car.
Took some photos without the arms and brought it with here in Saudi Arabia and rebuilt installed a new front arms and so on.
The only thing left is the servo horn and linkage which i will snatch it to my XXX CR car while im waiting for the servo linkage parts that i ordered.
It took me about a month before i replaced the arms! i just came back last week!
That's great to see a Kinwald being used as a runner, instead of languishing on a shelf (like mine)!
I'm talking with a printer about reproducing my decal stash and I have a mint XX CR Kinwald sheet that will be included,I'll let you know how it goes.
Great stuff! I love running my KW - I can't wait until next year's outdoor season when i'll race it again
Your car does have some unusual parts on it for a Kinwald - it has the earlier style front (wider) shock tower, also the slider driveshafts was a feature of the very first issue Double Xs - but I understand they were sometimes used by drivers of later variants as a tuning option, apparently because they tend to 'bind' in their slider action it has the effect of reducing rear end grip, making the car more lively (some drivers felt the XX was too safe to drive). Your car has the CR rear end (correct for a KW) but has the hub mouldings from the original XX rear end - so you must have alot of toe-in, as the CR rear pivot plate has built in toe aswell!
A tuning trick that I used to use for racing on tight indoor carpet tracks was to run flipped XX hubs on a CR rear end - this gave 0 deg toe & made the car really lively
Just to clear up potential confusion on the sliders for XX. The bushing only versions of the XX came with the sliders. The bushing versions came after the initial XX release.
"With the realease of the new Double-X and Double-XT kits with bushings came a plastic differential for the Double-X transmission. This new differential is designed to use the plastic "slider" type drive shafts. This was a design that many thought was incorporated only for cost reasons, but the truth is that there are conditions in which the plastic drive shafts out-perform the dogbone type drive shafts. Once the team drivers started using the slider drive shafts, Team Losi decided to offer a conversion kit so that anyone with a Double-X transmission could try them out.
The fact that the plastic differential and outdrives are less than ½ the weight of the standard steel outdrives and dogbones makes them ideal for stock class racing. Less rotating weight results in quicker acceleration, which is important in the stock class. The sliders also work in the modified class. The biggest advantage comes when the track is extra slick, or extremely bumpy. If the track is bumpy and slick, all the better."
It will fit any Double-X or Double-X retro-fit transmission.
I put the sliders on it, when I got the car the transmission was completely destroyed. that was all I had at the time. and didn't have the money to buy all of the parts to put it back 100% KW. its my fault
I always ran plastic outdrives and sliders on my XX4 to reduce the rotating weight of the transmission as there is a lot of energy lost with those three belts...

Here goes another XX build. This is a new genuine Kinwald Edition XX. I am building it as a shelfer with plenty of tasty upgrades from Trinity, MIP, HG, and Lunsford.
I can't seem to get enough of these XX buggies.

I am in the process of restoring my childhood XX (red on the left) - crica 1993?
My original XX has a little crash damage and I bought the Kinwald XX on the right as a parts donor.
I thought I would share a few pictures along the way.

Excellent stuff Martin - the XX sure looks tough sitting low with that indoor set-up (perhaps a little too low on the rear) - its great to hear that you are improving.. its got to be said that at this stage its all about little personal victories.....
Picked up this Kinwald XX and it doesn't appear to have been used much. Tires and wheels are being replaced with new and i need a new front tower. I bought a new Speckled graphite front tower off of ebay but a couple days later the seller emailed me...
Tried to get it close to box art. All stock except for the RPM gear cover and decals. The blue outlined losi decals a for the bk2. kit decals are black and yellow but box art has the blue ones.

i think the blue rpm cover was meant to be on that buggy

Here goes what should be an over the top build. It's not meant to be a replica, or even entirely era accurate. I just want to build what I think is the coolest XX.
I was forced to sell my very special NIB XX Kinwald build earlier this year. I've...

Oh, nice. Sure haven't heard of that until now, thanks for the lesson!
This is what I've been up to,for the last few days.
Just waiting for the yellow to fully cure before I lay down the white/blue drips.
Then,it's on to the window frames-thanks for the tips on those,by the way guys.
I have decided to build my NIB Losi XX cr Brian Kinwald buggy. It is one of my prized possessions in my RC collection. I have stared at it long enough, and feel it is time to open it up and assemble.
I have several vintage upgrades I will be...

Did anyone else see the price the NIB one went for on eBay recently?
Madness!!
Yup, I was watching that one too.
Thing is as soon as the cellophane is torn off to open the box, most of those $$$’s completely disappear. My guess is that someone...
