What brand are those shock towers scr8p? They look really cool but easily breakable?
A&L or Factory Works towers, same company, and no those suckers don't break! I tried.

Does anyone know if the XX transmission braces with the ears or fingers on them give any extra strength or rigidity to the chassis or transmission compared to the simple little rectangular braces? This will be for a runner build with a modern motor....

I have only ever broken the ears off the transmission case just behind the holes that screw to the bulkhead. I don't believe either brace really solves that problem (unless others are suffering different failures to me).
What options were there bitd short of dying the og nylon 6-gear one black or cutting your own?

If you decided to build your own, all of the parts that we made bitd ( shock towers, trans braces etc ) were made what we called graphite and not carbon fiber.
The graphite material had no weave that was easily visible.
