Yr-f2 special
I had to own this car.
I am not a tourer fan but I am sure others would agree this yokomo is a collectors must even if you are a die hard collector of off road. I picked this up ages ago so for a change I think it'll need some attention.
Anyway, it's all cleaned up and polished ready for a nice rebuild. It will be a shelfer for sure .
What's a good period electric setup for this one?

Re: Yr-f2 special
Nice find, the YR-F2 is a real rare car and unknown to a lot of people.
I have accumulated a lot of new parts for the YR-F2 and YR-F2 Special for building such car one day. Just not sure if this project will happen as my interest has moved on pancars now. But would be nice addition to my first generation YR-4 car.

Re: Yr-f2 special
Is that actually the Special, or the normal (fiberglass) one? IIRC, the Special has a sticker on the front of the box, which your box seems to be missing.
I hope I didn't just bring bad news...

Ha! You have a sharp eye! Yes the special did have the sticker but I believe the one I have has all the upgrade parts to make it a special!
That is the carbon fibre elements etc...
Anyway all will be revealed soon !

Re: Yr-f2 special
The ff design and the fact it's a yokomo are the key reasons I got this car. Ff from the off road perspective didn't seem to fair well (e.g. nichimo). Even the maxxum was not very drivable. However this one seem to have a bit of a reputation on the track for winning races and good handling. Maybe it just works for tourers as tamiya had their ff too.

Re: Yr-f2 special
Yes main difference for the special are the graphite parts, that´s also the easiest way for knowing which version it is. Something on the suspension was different too, not sure on other parts as it´s long ago since I saw this car.

Re: Yr-f2 special
Awwww I'm well Jealous.... been after one of these for a while & would love to have one to run & actually race against the modern 4wd chassis we run at my local club! A guy on Tamiyaclub was selling one recently, but at the time I couldn't afford/justify his asking price
As for electrics - I think you would be looking at 1700 Sanyo SCRCs maybe even 2000s?, Original spec LRP ICS digital or Novak Cyclone speedo, KO 2002 quick servo, Reedy Sonic or LRP motor?

Re: Yr-f2 special
Another difference is that the Special actually had shocks. The standard YR-F2 had a one piece rear suspension late and springing was from small coil springs, while the Special had two separate trailing arms and proper dampers. The standard front had a single coil spring in the middle while the Special had two dampers, but still a single rocker arm.V12 wrote:Yes main difference for the special are the graphite parts, that´s also the easiest way for knowing which version it is. Re: Yr-f2 special
Right, I might be making a move on this one soon but just need someone to identify the bodies shown on the box pic.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Yr-f2 special
Bodies are Skyline GTR's Naushad, but keeping with the period trend, maybe try track down a Proto Nissan Primera! Speedo, for sure a Cyclone, maybe even a 713 FET, and a Yokomo Pro series motor, cells, 2000mah for that era i believe, well its what we were running!
Few guys ran these at my local club years ago, there, different lol, they literally pulled through the corner from memory, and hung with my Street weapon in stock class on TakeOff tyres!

Re: Yr-f2 special
Thanks lee...I have all the electrics I need.
I'll try and look for a suitable shell now....I'd like to have that done before starting the rebuild. I am really particular about having everything I need first!
