RC10 buggy gearing recommendations
I'm outfitting several RC10 buggy builds with electronics. I'm going to be running a 6 cell 5000 NIMH pack with a reedy radon 17T. Any gearing recommendations you could offer for a good starting point? Figure this is for general use not track specific. Anyone know what stock gearing was for a RC10 Team car?
Thanx!

Re: RC10 buggy gearing recommendations
I really dont know brushed motors that well so ~ 15/87 or something close to that.
Re: RC10 buggy gearing recommendations
A bit of digging on the AE website gives us the instruction manual which shows the part number for the spur gear as 6653, which doesn't even show up on the parts list. It does show up in the instructions for miscellaneous parts kits for various RC12 models, where it is described on page two as a 54T, 32P spur gear in a replacement parts box on the right-hand column.Showcase1186 wrote:I'm outfitting several RC10 buggy builds with electronics. The pinion gear is listed in the RC10 instructions to be part number 6659. It is listed in the RC12LC Team Edition parts list as a 15T, 32P pinion gear.
Neither part is currently available from AE. I did not search for them on the web for availability.

Re: RC10 buggy gearing recommendations
I was running a Checkpoint Money 19T at 81/25 with a Novak GTS esc using 3000 nimh. It ran great with normal temps on esc and motor after a 5min qual on a 70 x 110 track. I easily kept up with all the guys running 13.5 and 10.5 BL and lipos. Had to switch motor since I can't locate any brushes for the Money motor.

And there in lies the problem with brushed stuff. Its amazing how quickly the parts for something can dry up.
Re: RC10 buggy gearing recommendations
Maxtxp, you are correct about the brushed supplies. I simply love the Money Motor, but the brushes are difficult to locate. I now run Revolution brushed motors and a P94. You just can't beat a properly tuned brushed motor with nimh batteries.
