Lazer zx screws

Hi everyone, i picked up a zx an was thinking about replacing the phillips screws with hex heads so i bought the rcscrewz zxr kit. My question is did they do away with most of the 2.6mm screws for the zx cos this screw kit doesn't seem to have many of them at all only 8 at most? Also are people that run the zx,zxr series doing away with the fixed rod ends an using ball studs an standard rod ends? Thanks for the input everyone greatly appreciated...

It's possible, yes. I did that to one of my Optima Mids that has the same rod ends and balls. Replaced them with RPM rod ends and associated balls (2.6mm threads).

hey Adam,

I used RPM rod ends and associated ball studs on a lazer that I had. The only reason I did it was to add color to the car.

If you will be switching to the ball stud, try to use a nut on the other end to hold the ball stud in place. You'll be switching from 3mm to 4-40...and it may be a little loose. Yokomo uses a similar ball stud where you can use the RPM ends, but the stud has a 3mm thread. However, it might be a lot easier just to use the RPM/associated set up.

Thanks everyone,i got cpl packs of the standard rod ends so probably just use them for it thanks...

Hex screws big heads i swear by, made a rear belt change possible in under five mins if it broke. The very front rod end i didnt like as the long plastic bent joint cup that goes into the front hub limited travel so opted for putting a ball joint into the inner hole on the castor block so i could use a straight and shorter tie rod and gave better travel.

Also i use associatedball joints all round as well. Easier to maintain as well as less slop and looks much better

highwayracer, is that steering rack from A&L? They have one for the Ultima and another for the Optima, but none specifically for the Lazer. Are you using the Optima rack?
