RC10T Racer Build

Hi guys. I just won a RC10T on eBay. It looks good for the money and I'll post pictures when it arrives. In the mean time, I know I am going to need new wheels. The truck is coming with the 3 piece wheels the kit originally came with and I know they won't hole barcodes in a mod class. What are the easiest wheels to fit that are easy to get? I was looking through Tower and Amain and found the MRP Ripper ST. It appears to be T3 based. Will those wheels fit? on my t2 i bought proline wheels. for t2, t3, t4 gt if i remember right, the trucks don't seam to be as wierd as buggy's when they changed.

Depending on the axle size on the truck you bought (whether it is the original 1/4" or the owner switched to 3/16") you can still get associated wheels at Tower Hobbies.

The only difference that ever existed on the truck wheels, other than appearance, is whether they are for 1/4" or 3/16" axles. With 3/16" axles, you can run current production GT2 or aftermarket wheels on your 10T. Associated still makes the older style dish wheels as well, and I believe they still offer the 1/4" rears.

Thanks guys. I don't know why, but I guess after buying my RC10 re-re, I figured all the wheels were discontinued and the Thunder Tiger wheels would need to be used. If you don't mind me asking, how much of the 10T stuff is still available? I was going to go with a Team BlueGroove Slammed RC10T body unless you think there is something better.

if associated didnt sell them in the warehouse sell. they still had t2 bodies on thier website. but they had 3 as of last monday and were 18 bucks plus shipping.

The truck showed up at my door on Christmas Eve day. I finally had time to tear it down, clean it up and reassemble it. So far I am waiting on the B4 slipper parts to show up to convert the trans. Otherwise, I think the pictures speak for themselves. Does anyone know what front arms the truck has? They look newer. Also, it appears I have 1/4" rear universals on it. Am I able to get plastic hexes from the T4 and ream them out on the back side to fit so I can run the newer hex wheels? I f i can do that, should I convert the front wheels to hex's also?

The diff looks like it hasn't been run hard or was rebuilt before I bought it off ebay. All in all, I am happy with the purchase, just wish the bottom, wasn't scratched so deep.

A few more pics. The seller included a bunch of tires. I don't know if they were meant as packing material or he just wanted to get rid of them. Both the servo and motor work. The wheels are missing the band and look like they had tires glued tot he bead before.

You could, but not much point, since the 1/4" and 3/16" pinned style is still supported by AE and aftermarket. If you can find 1/4 wheels you like, run the universals. Otherwise, just pick up a set of T/T2/GT CVDs and 3/16" x 3/8" bearing, and run 3/16" wheels.

Also, by going to 3/16", you'll be able to use commercially available alloy clamping hexes, should you decide to run hex wheels. There is only one source for 1/4" hexes, they are not clamping, and they do change the offset a bit.

I run 3/16" CVD or universal axles on all of my trucks, save for my white parts GT shelf queen.

Here is the finished truck. As you can see, some of the scratches were a little too deep even for light sanding and still appear after the paint. I'll try to strip the truck in the spring and see what I can do.

Just need to sort out the trans rubbing issues.
