Interesting. Avid, my wallet in my pocket is a problem, can you lighten it so I can walk straighter? :D

Unless the 2.25 is in graphite, the motor plate conection with the tub would have to be re done. And either way, the inside camber link on the bulkhead would probably be a no go on that right side, and one would probably want to go double-stuffed felt gaskets. Otherwise, knock yourself out.

I myself have a couple years of practice to get to where I'd be able to tell the difference.

that topshaft won't fit in a 2.25 trans. it has the spacer built in that must be left off.

Could probably do the same thing with a Hydradrive shaft and a few washers between the trans spacers and motor plate. Would have to use a B4 slipper too.

i think the next guy that makes a 2.25 stealth trans case should really think about designing the topshaft area like the modern cars. that way, topshafts like the one from avid, and the one made by mip will be able to be used.

Can't you find someone with a small lathe to turn down the spacer?

i'm sure i could have. but using an early b4 topshaft and not worrying about centering the motor was a lot easier.

you also have to make sure the shaft diameter between the spacer and gear is 3/16". it looks like it is, but if it's smaller, it definitely isn't worth the hassle.

I was also thinking of doing that, just for the sake of doing something... you know.. time... killing...
but there is also the ball stud (below the wing mount) you need to move that and change the location.

well , hope someone on here will make it their next WOIN upgrades.... other than that, its all doable. with time and patience.

If anyone wanted to use that top shaft from mip I could turn it down for ya. I had been thinking about running that same top shaft.just because its aluminum to go with my light weith out drives and aluminum diff gear I got from klien.

That Mip alloy top shaft is 1/4" on the right side so all you have to do is use a 3/8x1/4 flangeless bearing, and bore out the opening in the tranny to a bit larger than that. I just ran a1/4" bit in and out until it cleared. I also like to use the 3/16" id crush washers from the tc3 trans shim kit to provide a positive stop for the slipper plates, rather than butting the inner plate up against the edge of the flats.
