What tools do you use for machining by hand.
What tools do you use for machining by hand.
I'm considering machining the edges of my gold and black pan chassis to match the JCONCEPTS motor plate. Just like Kinwald and many of you have done. What tools or dremel bits do you guys use to do it with?

Really just old fashioned elbow grease and sandpaper, I can definitely do that. The game is just so boring I guess I can start on it now.scr8p wrote:Sandpaper

I just run a light cut file down the edge.

I use a hack saw to get the big chunk off the motor plate - two slices towards that lower hole, followed by a big half-round bastard file to give it shape, and then the sandpaper.
The sanding drum on the dremmel works too..but I think the best final finish is with a medium grit wrapped around your finger.

I've used a jeweler's saw to cut to my lines then different shaped needle files to fair the shape and then sand paper through the grits then a dremmel buffing wheel to get the polish.

If you want to get a super clean job that you can finish in about 30 secs, find a cheap DA sander. Find the finest grit sand paper and give it a pass. It will turn out really nice and uniform and you won't work your arm to death.
A file will work great too as well as using a plain piece of sand paper.

Sweet, lots of great ways to choose from think I'm going to try the sander and a little elbow grease as well. Thanks guys
