Not surprisingly the opposite here in the UK. CATs were really popular here, especially when you consider that a CAT was £200, yet an RC10 was £180mrlexan wrote:I am surprised you had one of those as a kid, a bit expensive and not too mention, hard to get (when compared to today's world).

Re: Pictures from Back In The Day - Racing
I want to say they were around $400 USD here back then, totally out of my range at that age. I had to buy all my stuff or hope that Grandpa would get me something for Xmas or my birthday. My parents were never really supportive of the whole thing, especially when it came to $$$$$$$$.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: Pictures from Back In The Day - Racing
I bought my CAT when I was about 17. It was a TRC special from the local hobby shop. The stock XL kit included new tires, a TRC rear diff and upper belt shaft and a butterfly graphite chassis with top plate. The car was pretty much decked out right out of the box.
I loved the car. It was my first 4wd car, and I did pretty well with it. Back then, we still reall didn't know what we were doing and how to make cars work, but I did pretty well with it. I ran stock 4wd for a couple of outdoor seasons and I think I finished second, then first in the season points.
I still would love to build that car again, and/or find that TRC chassis. It's one of the very few things in the vintage world that I would pretty much throw silly money at if the opportunity presented itself for a NOS item.

Here are some pics form the very first track I raced on between 87 and 91. That doesn't make me younger though I can't find myself on any picture! I'll scan more of them later on!
1984, the year the '10 was born!
1991, body art concourse, look at that crazy SRB
1993
The (small) track:

These were just bashing in 1986, but here's a couple I scanned a while ago. We were at an r/c float plane competition and had some time to kill....
