Short shocks & springs...

Post by MCKNBRD »

OK, I'm wanting to build a gold pan and use short shocks all the way around (among other things I want to change)...I know I'll have to play havoc with springs and such, and I'm planning on making my own rear tower to facilitate it. I don't want to use big bore shocks; I'd rather stay with gold or hard anodized ones.

My biggest question is what do I look for regarding springs? What diameter(s) fit readily?

Second question deals with pistons...with all the options out today, what is the collective's recommendation? And what size?

I'm gathering parts and filling up a corner in the mancave...I've got a 10T, an old black pan RC10, and a DS...and 2 gold pan 6-gear cars on the way as donors...should be starting to hack and cut before long.

Thanks!

If you want a neutral handling car for fun, go for silver springs, 2 hole pistons, 30wt oil.

Dave.

Thanks, Dave! I actually picked up the AE Short spring assortment over the weekend...what I was wondering was more along the lines of what else works on these 'size' shocks.

I know Losi makes different springs, and there are several different companies that make pistons and other stuff...and I know that there are several different 'short' shocks from AE over the years. I was kinda hoping to pick the brain of the collective and get some ideas about what spring sizes work, and options that ya'll have used over the years.

Thoughts?

Kipps looks like they have a ton of options...that's exactly what I was looking for!

Email sent to them...gonna need a little more info about their stuff.

Thanks!
