GM Racing V8 ESC Questions

Post by LTO_Dave »

I just picked up a GM V8 ESC and wanted to know if anyone has the specs and might know approximately when it was produced? I'm also looking for a copy of the V8 model instructions, either online or physical.

I found the online instructions for the V12 but there's no copyright date.

I have the Instruction Manual for the V8 ESC, strangely enough it's an A6-sized booklet, which also covers the V12 models as well, unlike the online manual which only covers the V12. Unfortunately, no specs and no copyright date.

I should be able to scan them in for you a bit later today, if that helps.

I'd really appreciate that if you have the time. :D

Is the basic programming of it the same as the V12?

Seems to be.... there's nothing in the manual that seems to be V8 specific.... only reverse functions for the V12R model...

Ok, don't waste your time scanning it then because someone on facebook posted a link to the V12 manual. It mentions the V8 once, but everything else is centered around the V12.

Is this what you have?

I think they were out 1997-98. Masami used a GM "V" esc in his IFMAR TQ RC10B3.

Awesome! That should make it period-correct for my MX-4. I was looking in a old RCCA that has New For '99 on the cover and stores are selling the V12 and the MX-4, so I should be good.

I don't really care for the Novak and Tekin ESC's from that time and wanted something different that also wasn't a budget model.
