I've never raced carpet either but seems to me with how smooth and hard packed modern dirt tracks are might as well go carpet and be cleaner, looks like a great track. My first thought was big gap for vintage as well but for modern car no big deal....

Better shocks were the first thing i put on mine, actually used some gold associated front shocks all around, made a big difference. Lots of sellers on ebay for decent prices on other brands too.
