Brushed Motor Maintenance

A question to you guys running modified brushed motors.

Once you have stripped, cleaned, possibly cut coms and rebrushed how are you setting your timing if you do not have a dyno?

I’ve got quite a few little used Trinity D3s and D3.5s and I’d like to race with them but want to be able to keep them in top order too.
Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

free rev on an old school charger with amp gauge. u can usually here the smoothest setting, least arcing with reasonable amp draw...somewhere between 1.5 and 2.5 amps as a baseline

Forgive my ignorance but wouldn't a charger put out too much voltage?

I have an old Protech 702 charger with amp meter. Would this work?

its a good question...not ignorant at all. i use a protech 701 with adjustable current. u can put a voltmeter on it and put it to 7.2v. if u keep your 702 on 6 cell should be just fine👍
