Schumacher introduced an all new 2wd buggy in 1997, the Fireblade 2000. An exercise in radically lower center of gravity, everything on the Fireblade was about getting vehicle weight as close to the ground as possible. The redesigned slipperless gear driven transmission, reduced height carbon fiber double deck chassis, and heavily splayed shock positions were in stark contrast to traditional buggy designs:
