Tamiya MO2

Post by Dangeruss »

In 1995 Tamiya paid homage to an assortment of A segment cars with their 1/10 2wd electric MO2 touring car chassis. Rather than an open tub design as Tamiya touring cars had employed thus far, the MO2, which focused on vehicles in the sub compact car segment, was constructed with an ABS monocoque chassis. That two-piece clamshell bolted together to provide rigid mounting points for the four-wheel independent suspension system featuring ultra short torsion spring loaded lower a-arms and fixed camber links at all four corners supported by low mounted plastic bodied coilover friction monoshocks front and rear. A dual bellcrank steering system was uniquely mounted ahead of the front suspension with spherical ended adjustable tie rods and a direct mounted servo saver. A transverse battery was placed just ahead of the mid-mounted 540 motor which drove the bevel gear differential equipped transmission with metal dogbone rear axles. Plastic wheels, rubber tires and a clear lexan body with molded plastic add-on trim varied by model. Available in 12 different body styles across three different chassis configurations (M02 - 210mm wheelbase, MO2M - 225mm wheelbase, and M02L - 240mm wheelbase) each unassembled kit included a Mabuchi RS-540 motor and full bushings:
