Showcasing the cars and parts to quench any hobbyists Touring Car thirst Tamiya filled their pages to the rim with top tier and entry level kits as well as Hop Ups galore in these ads from 1997:

TA03: 1/10 4wd electric touring car released in 1996. Third generation of the TA line, offered in four different configurations of standard or short wheelbase and front or rear motor. Molded ABS construction, open tub chassis and four-wheel independent suspension with fixed camber links over lower a-arms. Oil-filled plastic bodied coilover mini CVA II shocks with clip in spring spacers held in place by molded shock towers front and rear. Dual bellcrank steering with molded plastic center link, adjustable spherical tie rods and direct mount servo saver steering. Bevel gear differentials front and rear connected by a new single belt drive system. Plastic tipped dogbone axles led to 12mm hex drives. Single piece plastic wheels, rubber slicks and clear lexan racing body varied based on the 20 different body styles available. Mabuchi RS-540 motor and full bushings included with each unassembled kit. Mercedes Benz CLK GTR, Toyota Corolla WRC, and Avex Dome Mugen NSX pictured.

TL01: 1/10 4wd electric Touring Car platform released in 1997. Entry level line that utilized an ABS monocoque chassis similar to the 2wd M02. Clamshell chassis and two-piece lower a-arm/fixed camber link four-wheel independent suspension. Twin bellcrank steering system with fixed plastic tie rods and direct mount servo saver. Molded in shock towers and full quartet of plastic bodied coilover friction dampers. Shaft driven four-wheel drive system with bevel gear differentials front and rear, plastic tipped dogbones and 12mm hex drives. The TL01’s single piece plastic wheels, rubber tires, and clear lexan body varied with more than 25 different unassembled kits, each with a Mabuchi RS-540 motor and full bushings, as well as more than 25 Complete kits that also included an electronic speed controller, steering servo, transmitter, receiver, battery and charger.
