RPS SE Yokomo option chassis LOTS OF PHOTOS WARNING!!!!!

Post by Dr. Robotnik »

Sorry this is a bit rushed.

Buy a Yokomo YZ834B lot mainly for the very rare RPS SE optional slotted graphite chassis.

Image

Receive the car, strip the chassis and look at the holes. :?

Image

Ask the legend that is scr8p if he could fill the holes and re-furb the chassis. 8)

Image

A deal is done and scr8p does an amazing job  (Thanks again mate )

Image

Image

Receive the chassis

Image

Take a NIB roll bar...

Image

Add to the chassis with new Associated hardware...Image

Take rear trailing arms and Hot Trick side plates...

Image

Add to chassis with billet alloy shock mounts and custom arm stabilisers...

Image

Add re-furbished RPS SE shocks...

Image

Get distracted by other things, do bits here and there and forget to take pics......................

Leap into the future and here is what the car will 95% look like when it's done.

Cheers

Nice car. That chassis came up good.

Looks like you need to pump up the tyres. :P

Don't the rims on those things have grooves to take the tyre bead? I notice in pics of a lot of these early yokes that the tyres don't sit on the rims the best.

I can take no credit for the chassis, that is scr8p's awesome work. I just cleaned up the other parts and bolted them on...

On these cars the stock wheels only have an outer lip and the tires are meant to be glued to the rest of the wheel. Imagine a pan car set of wheels. That's why you normally see the outer tire bead glued perfectly to the outer lip of the wheel but the inner bead glued slightly wonky and inside the inner bead. Mine look even worse because they are unglued.

Hope that answers the question.

Along with a million other things  I have the bumper and other parts I just haven't had time to work on this properly (what do you think JG wide bumper or stock RPS SE???). A lot will change and I am trying to find a home for all my RC stuff. I just thought it would take up a lot less space once put together.

Thanks a lot for the positive comments guys I appreciate it.

Oh, if anyone has any pics no matter how small or blurry, in an ad or at an old race of this chassis, I would love to see them as I have no idea what the battery strap should look like

The best I have is Kustomizerz'z very cool car 8) and I think Tak has made his own strap...

Hi Ed, your yoke is looking very good!!! I remember seeing some body off pics of Taks other cars and they roughly have the same battery strap design for the slotted chassis.

The battery strap used on my SE is not home made, it's original RPS stuff. I will scan my strap and upload it.

Thank you very much mate. I have sent you a pm too. I only thought it might be home made because you've made such excellent stuff in the past and I have never seen what this chassis is meant to come with.

Cheers

Ed

I was going to say it, but Tak beat me to it. I have a NIP strap with an RPS header card/tag just like the one in his pic.

Good to hear from you again Tak, you've been too quiet lately.

Looks good Ed!
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.
