Held an SC8 in my hands today.......

Post by mrlexan »

Guys, I visited my LHS today and fresh out of the box from receiving it yesterday, they have 1 Ricky Johnson Red Bull Pro 4 truck. It was very I could do not to walk out the door with it under my arm, but that is a lot of cash. I am trying not to get caught up in the first wave rush and take advantage of some cheaper prices possibly after christmas. The thing is very cool and it really does make a Slash look like a toy (sorry, Traxxas.... I still have a Slash though and planning on keeping it).

Speaking of which did you guys see the officially licensed bodies that Traxxas is coming out with? They look cool. I have seen a Fabtech, Amsoil, and Monster sponsored liveries.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Yeah, I saw the video footage of the SC8 and even though I'm not a big fan of nitro and the extra infrastucture I would need it was REALLLLY trick. I agree that the scale look is much better than the Slash as well, but is it worth 3 Slashes? The SC8 seems to come with everything except Nitro. Maybe someday if I come into a surplus of money, but not any time soon.

I just watched the video on AE's web site and I can't believe how scale these look! Not just the static look but also the way they jump and slide around the corners is exactly how the "real" WSORR/CORR trucks drive. I see the real thing almost every weekend as a racer in the WSORR series and nothing comes close to the SC8! I'm not into current RC cars. I only collect vintage RC10s and a few other cars I couldn't afford as a kid, none of which get driven. I WILL buy one of these and run the hell out of it just because of how it is so much like the real deal!

Now, if I could just get AE to sponsor my real race truck it would be easier to shell out the 800 bones for the SC8!

Just came from lhs and they have 4 in stock now. I got to check out the black bodied one. Nice but just like mrlexan a lot of cash and in my opinion making it nitro was a big mistake, but who knows may be a big hit.

I think I am going to get one, I don't run anything anyway. I am just going to wait for a Tower coupon or someone to list it below list price on ebay. I love the scale thing just way to much to pass it up.

But that's going to add EVEN MORE to the total cost of that thing. As far as I know, AE isn't planning on selling a brushless SC8 version out of the box.
