Post by minimini »

a few years ago..........I saw a nicely modified Ultima A&L version in a Japanese website........... which got rear trailing arms.........together with a belt-driven gear box..........really want to build one up myself ......... :)

I think A&L did make several conversion kits .........for RC10........& optima mid use.........

You've got one more thing to look for:
Aku and Tanaka-san have the expensive version of the motorplate: instead of black frp it's a thick alu part with grooves to add cooling.
oh, and an A&L steering kit ofcourse.

Don't hold back on building and running the car on account of those parts though, they're a bunch of fun

I had the same worry , so I got the slipper unit from a member here and a spare belt plus new pressure bearing from darryl Lane, who used to frequent the board around that time.

Try checking the member list: he 'll probably respond to PM's still.

I think the guy who designed the A&L rear suspension lives somewhat near me, and runs\races at my local track. I had a plastic version long ago they we used to refer to 'dieterbuilts' from whom I thought designed the car, but it was claimed to be the other guy....as he told me talking to him a couple years ago.

EDIT:

I had to email someone to confirm, but these were modeled off of the Cox scorpion. So Cox gets the design award here.....

Cox, didn't design the scorpion. The scorpion is an original kyosho product.

Darryl Lane of Alec&Lane used to frequent this forum not too long ago. I have no idea if he'd agree the A&L arms were molded of the scorpion ones. If they were then they also had to be modified from metric to imperial for the hingepins and bearings of the rc10.

I should clarify the use of 'modeled' as they were not a exact copy, but a bit longer. A&L had the aluminum ones I remember, and Houge made the plastic\nylon versions (what I had)

I think mine is in a box still somewhere.....I should go dig it out....
